Simply the best ham ever. Get a side of split pea soup and it is a great combo. I have been coming here for 25 years. Whenever I'm passing by i will stop in and eat.

My wife had a large plate of ham and eggs with toast and I had a wonderful bean soup with a perfect ham sandwich. Mike and his wife were working the counter, busy fixing food and talking to us. What a great start to a rainy day.

Mikes is a small restaurant with incredibly good ham. He cooks it slowly for many hours which results in tender, melt in your mouth ham. A buddy of mine suggested we head there for breakfast. I had the half order of the ham and egg meal. My eyes opened wide, when it was delivered to the counter. The two eggs... More

Older building on Michigan Ave. Husband and wife run the restaurant very well. The soups and ham sandwiches are nothing less then outstanding! You get way more then you pay for at Mike's. Has to be one of the best places to get anything ham in Detroit.

The place is a little hidden gem, with a simplified menu (Ham). I had the smaller of the two ham sandwiches, along with a bowl of pea soup. Could not finish the other half of the sandwich, due to the shear size. Great old school location that I will definitely be frequenting again. **Cash Only**

The food is great - we got the ham and eggs breakfast. But even more than that it's the location and the local history that is all around this place. Ate there with a friend who grew up a mile from there back in the 50's and 60's who gave us "the tour"

If you like ham and you are in Detroit visit Mike's. If you do not like ham forget about it because all Mike sales is ham, ham sandwiches and soup with ham. I found the large ham sandwich fresh, meaty and extremely tasty. It was big enough to feed two people. Mike's is a great little down home place. Don't... More

There is nothing to like about this disgusting excuse for a restaurant. I am not the only person who has been stuck with the fat surprise. Solid fat on bread. There's no excuse for such disgusting treatment.

Do not be afraid of the semi shady neighborhood. I think it has to be the best ham I have had in my life.also split a cup of both the bean and the split pea soup. Very very good also. It is owned a run by a great hard working family for the last 40 years. Friendly folks both times... More

Mike's does one thing: ham. And they do it very well, and evidently have been doing so for a number of years. For $3, you get a bowl of split pea or bean soup, literally overflowing the sides of the bowl. The soup is delicious, redolent with chunks of tender ham. It's a bargain, and enough of a lunch all...
