Unpretentious place, very laid back with small town feel. The menu options were great and the portions were HUGE and delicious! Would definitely go again.

We were drawn to this place as a quaint local restaurant with an interesting menu. Unfortunately, the quality of the food and condition of the place were a turn off. The haddock was dry, seafood florentine tasteless, and the walls were filthy and spattered with...food. On the other hand, the waitstaff was lovely and the mussels appetizer was just amazing! We will not return, but hope others may have a better experience.More

Went there after a whale watch boat ride. We were starved and everything On the menu looked good. 2 had the haddock, 3 had the Lobster pie and one had the seafood. Marinara. We all raved about our choices. Food was delivered in a timely...manner and excellent service. We will return this week.More

Ate here with my wife and daughter Labor Day weekend after a local recommended it. Calamari was cooked PERFECTLY! Clams in the lemon garlic sauce were the best I've ever had. The Baked Coconut Rum Haddock was a big enough portion to feed all three...of us. Only negative thing was that because it was a little warm outside, they had the windows closed (A/C on) and it was smoky inside. Small place, but worth a visit.More

Our family has been vacationing in Gloucester since 1996. The causeway has always been part of our visit. The seating is limited and you may need to wait outside for a table but it’s well worth the wait. The price and portions are unmatched. I...asked for my first doggie bag here.😂More

We had some great food here after a 35 minute wait for a table. Best linguine with clam sauce. Be warned this place was VERY loud. Friendly wait staff. We parked behind the restaurant next to a very filthy, smelly dumpster.

Someone recommended this restaurant and I'm so glad we went. It is nothing to look at but it doesn't matter. The food is spectacular and abundant. I had shrimp and scallops marinara over linguine and it came out steaming. I had enough left for another...meal and it was just as good the 2nd time. My friend had the lemon peppered salmon and it was the best salmon I've ever tasted, no exaggeration. I don't care for salmon and I would order this. The rolls were delicious too. You may have to wait but it is worth it. You can bring your own wine, no bar.More

In the week we have been here we have eaten here three times; no other restaurant warrants this frequency. Place had not changed a bit, and it didn't appear food prices were raised but if they were it was slight. Had twin lobsters, fried oysters...and fried combo platter. Amazing onion rings and overall a light-enough batter that you can really appreciate the seafood. Great soup, friendly and efficient staff and overall great vibe.More

We called to ask if there was outdoor dining. It was explained that there are picnic tables and your food is packaged as take out and brought to you outside with no further table service. That was fine with us. We ordered two cups of...clam chowder and the baked cod to share. We asked for extra plates so we could share and were told there was no problem. We sat outside waiting for 50 minutes after paying for our food. Finally my husband went in. Out bagged food was sitting on the counter. My husband was told it was not paid for - it was. After producing a receipt out (no longer hot) food was given to us to take outside. The soup was hit; the cod was lukewarm as was the potato. There was one plate. I went inside to get another paper plate and the cashier was quite nasty. Food was good with generous portions but we will not be going back.More

The Causeway never disappoints in terms of selection, freshness, quality, portion size, and price. Indoor seating is in a small room with several servers. For good weather times, there are a few card tables set up outside. Our server (took the order for take-out) and...was pleasant), but was a bit confused on supplying condiments, bread, utensils, etc. However, this did not take away from the overall good experience one gets at this cozy, little restaurant. Both the clam chowder and fish chowder were tasty and had plenty of stock. My wife enjoyed the baked shrimp casserole ($18) with asparagus and mashed potatoes. I enjoyed the grilled octopus ($24) We look forward to our next visit.More

CPT Rob from Hurricane II recommended this place. The food was DELICIOUS. Small restaurant, cozy family feel. Staff were all pleasant, and quick! They were bouncing all over to the tables checking on diners, and making tables ready for next group. Quick turn. Food came...out fast thankfully as we were starving. FRESH FRESH.More

This is where the locals eat. Huge portions. Go for lunch and you have enough left over for supper. Food is very good. Service is pleasant. We went twice and were not disappointed.

I normally go between 11 and 11:30. Much later than that and you need to be prepared to wait.

They do not. Most places here do a full lobster or lobster casserole.
