We were in Oxford for the day and stopped in for lunch. It was excellent! My husband had cream of crab soup and 1/2 a sandwich. It was gone in no time. I opted for a pea and mint soup along with a grilled asparagus salad. An excellent choice on my part; the mingling of flavors in the salad was... More

We dined last night at charming Salter's Tavern. While the restaurant is consistently good, year round, Oxford shows its particular charm now, thanks to Mother Nature and the beauty of Spring. Chef Salter was busy providing his creative recipes for diners both inside and out. We chose a booth in the tavern and were royally served by the charming Casey.... More

My girlfriend and I been to the Robert Morris Inn for little vacations away from DC on four occasions and we have never been let down. Quaint, cozy rooms, with delicious breakfast and dinner conveniently downstairs. This spot is a great one if you just want to slow things down, relax and unwind while not losing the quality you would... More

While visiting Oxford, we dined at Salter's Tavern, We were setting on one of the booths that made it very cozy. Our server Brennan, was polite, as well as honest, when we asked if he had tried the aioli sauce on the burger. He stated" I can not lie i honestly have not tried it. We started with the fried... We stopped by the Robert Morris Inn for dinner at 4:45 p.m. but were told they did not open for dinner until 5:00. We waited at a table while they were setting up and my only complaint was that we were totally ignored - not even offered a glass of water. Once 5:00 hit, it was a total transformation of... More

The Robert Morris Inn has traditionally been one of the better places to dine on the Eastern Shore. Chef Marc Salter has continued to provide superior entrees, full of flavors and well balanced. We revisited the Robert Morris Inn during restaurant week in Talbot County in April 2017. The Robert Morris Inn is easy to find. Just take Oxford Road... More

Recently came to the ghost dinner and food was amazing! The butternut squash soup is to die for! The Valentine's dinner and specials were also out of this world. Best servers Casey, Daniel and Susan!

There are lots of quality restaurants in the Easton, Maryland area but none can compare to the quality of the chef, the quality of the food and the welcoming atmosphere. Mark Salter, the executive chef, is an excellent teacher as well. We are regulars at his cooking classes and love his special events. From crab cakes to Eggs Benedict and... More

With a friendly chef/owner on site, quite a romantic place for dinner. We were surprised to learn that this is the oldest inn in America!

Dear Alan At 1710 our vintage Inn is the oldest full service Inn in the USA. We believe there are two other that are late 1600's but those are Taverns only, without bedrooms. Thank you for visiting and we are very pleased you enjoyed your dining experience. Regards Mark and Ian More

A lovely, historic Inn/Restaurant in Oxford MD. On a cold night, with good friends and a fire. A solid menu with the occasional special night. Last night was pasta night. The chef had several pre made sauces to choose from, chicken or shrimp, and 2 pastas to put with other ingredients. Very good. Service is also good. Limited beer on... More

Once the home of Robert Morris who gained fame as "Financier of the Revolution". General and later President George Washington was a close friend and visited Robert Morris often. In more recent times author James Michener outlined his famous novel, Chesapeake here and fell in love with our renowned crab cakes. Now the Eastern Shore's most unique historic restaurant with rooms under celebrity Chef Proprietor, Mark Salter and Ian Fleming.Enter the Inn and step back 300 years: a pristine yet historic interior welcomes with timber beams, panelled walls and open fires in the cooler months. Through to Salter's Tavern featuring historic red brick walls and old slate floors, with magnificent fires in the cooler months and offering casual outside dining on our Terraces and Veranda during balmy warm summers. This is a truly historic Inn, cosy with a natural patina running through. Friendly, great cuisine and understated professional service.
