i lived in maine for 21 years and knew a fair # of places in this area but we had a business dinner/meeting scheduled and I asked my business partner to pick a place and she recommended this. Figured it would be some old school tavern in an old building with wooden beams but it is in a renovated sprawling... More

I have been going out to eat in restaurants all of my life and have tired of practically everywhere I have "loved." But I will NEVER, NEVER tire of The Village Tavern. The food is the best food I have ever had, and that is true for every course--appetizers to die for; salads that are innovative and wonderful; delicious, also... More

The quality of our food was outstanding. We were particularly impressed with the staff, as to how well they worked together to make our time there extremely pleasant.

The service and food at this restaurant are both top notch. David the bartender is great and very attentive. Rich and Tina have done a wonderful job at turning an old run down market into a warm and inviting meeting place. Get there early as there is often a wait (even in the offseason). The blueberry plains martini is to... More

We skipped lunch to have an early dinner here because the place is always mobbed. We arrived 4:45 on a Sunday afternoon and the place was already filling up. By 5:30 it was full and when we left at 6:00 there was a line that spilled out of the door and down the walkway. Service was excellent, from the greeting... More

Nice, comfortable place to eat. I had my favorite: glass of wine, soup of the day (tomato bisque) a spinach and feta salad, good, hot and crusty bread, and dessert (dark chocolate tart with almonds). Everything was prepared and served well.

Been wanting to try this restaurant for some time, and I did finally, but it was a take out meal. You know how take out meals even from good restaurants can just be ok? Not this one, it was fantastic! So so good! One of my top 5 restaurants, if not #1. Can't wait to go back this weekend!

We went on a Saturday night. Be prepared for a little wait as they do not take reservations. But the food is great. I had the short ribs and potato pancake while my wife had the filet mignon and potato pancake. Several people recommended this place so my wife went. We were not disappointed. The short ribs were so tender... More

To avoid the crowd, which involved people standing outside, we arrive quite early and were seated right away. The atmosphere was great and the service attentive. I had buffalo cauliflower as an appetizer, and the pecan crusted haddock with a side of latkes as an entrée. Both were very good and I'd be happy to have them again. My husband... More
