Not great sadly. No table until nearly an hour after booking time - just left feeling in the way! Then all still took for ever ...2 meals sent back cold - this was now 5pm!!! Husband no meal until most others finished ...they forgot. Food quite nice but lost appetite by then....and had got through many drinks just waiting for... More

We had a beautiful walk up to the windmill last Sunday and called into the pub after for a drink and we thought maybe a bite to eat. It wasn't busy and we asked for two halves of lager and the bar attendant poured Brakespeares then blamed us that we must have asked for that as that is what he... More

We visited the pub for a meal with a friend who was visiting from Australia - she was very taken with the open fire and wooden beams. I had the prawns - which was a mistake - not because of the taste, but because I got in a complete mess de-shelling (or whatever it is called) them. Next time I... More

If I could give this lovely English pub more than 5 stars, I would. It was recommended to visit the village of Turville as it is the village where The Vicar of Dibley, Goodnight Mr Tom and Midsomer Murders was/is filmed. Also on the hill, in Ibstone, you can clearly see the windmill which was used in the original Chitty... More

Will keep this one short as very disappointed! We used to live in Skirmett and once upon time the food here was pretty good. Sadly it was pretty dire. We visited for lunch and both ordered the burger. The burger meat was actually pretty good but accompanied by dried out "fat chips" and a passable salad. Got the impression that... More

Our local walking group finished an anniversary walk with lunch in the pub for 30 people. It is a lovely old-fashioned pub in a pretty Buckinghamshire village made famous in many TV series and films. The service was very friendly and efficient. Our various pre-ordered food choices were served promptly and were generous proportions. Log fires added a extra feel... More

Lovely dog friendly pub in a fab location. Food is great. However, having been here a few times, today was a bit of a let down as the service was very poor.

A trio of sausages with mash or a very generous piece of battered cod with chips are very welcome after a good hike up the hill, across to Hambleden and back again. Follow that with a homemade dessert and coffee and you can drive out of this pretty village feeling very satisfied with a day well spent - without costing... More

We called in here today without booking for lunch and having checked their tables, we said an hour to eat was plenty. The food we ordered, lamb and mint pie and sausage and mash came promptly and had interesting touches. The mash which came with the delicious sausages was flavoured with whole grain mustard and the vegetables to accompany my... More

We were on a 6 mile hike of a loop from Ibstone. We stepped into this village from the footpath opposite the Church featured in The Vicar of Digby after passing the windmill from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. So the setting is set, beautiful village in the Chilterns. As we entered the village there was the pub. We hadn't booked... More
