The "Real Italian" offerings of the original Amato family sandwich shops have gone the way of all businesses that try to spread out in all directions. The location of the Amato's nearest me is at a terrible corner to negotiate nearly all the time. Their sandwiches keep shrinking in size, and their straying from Italian to other ethnic foods has,... While now Maine in preparation of moving there from another state, we stopped in for a quick bite to eat. We got a wheat Caesar wrap. Sandwich was very good but unfortunately this store had no heart healthy alternatives in addition to the sandwich . If you are a potato chip nut, then go here because that seemed to be... More

not only did they not make what I ordered they actually made a regular pizza and it was not until I had eaten part of it that I realized that the pizza and the pazzo did not look remotely the same. This is not a game or a fad diet- gluten free is not a choice- don't trust that they... More

Amatos are all alike and thats a good thing as they are good. Their prices have been creeping up and up, but the food here is good. I recommend the Italian Sandwich.

We had take-out from Amato's twice during our week in Maine. Plenty of variety at reasonable prices. Very good food and quick service. Plenty of help available.

Had a nice pepperoni pizza from here late on a Friday night after attending a family function. We needed something to just fill the void. It was good pizza and was even better the next morning. We went back because we were craving Italian Subs one evening and we were disappointed. They lacked the "italian" taste and the rolls they... More

The food is always fresh. The Italians are soft bread and stuffed. (maybe too much tomato for some) What makes it the best is the "sour" pickles. They are always happy to give you Oil on the side if you are going to the beach. At lunch time, they have hot food ready to go like Stuffers and Pazzo bread.... More

We really enjoyed Amatos, I was told it was a "must". We had pizza which was delicious and stuffed bread, which were also delicious. They make it pretty fast, you can order when you get there or call ahead. We had spinach stuffed bread and three cheese, and a pepperoni/sausage pizza, very good. The sauce is a little sweet but... Great restaurant that myself and my entire family continues to go to year after year. Has the best original Italian sandwiches in the entire state of Maine- Mainly because it did originate from Amato's. The pizza, calzones and really any basic Italian food sold here will be delicious and quick.

Very unorganized at the pickup register, but this is awesome, piping hot take out Italian. Their baked pastas and chicken parm were great. Huge servings. Large menu. You can call in your order. There are no tables, take out only.

Thank J M
