We had several unique dishes here, but all perfect serving sizes so we could sample several options. They also featured several craft beer options from local breweries. Dinner or lounge areas, and even pet friendly with the outside seating.

This was the site for a wonderful feast for our family. The restaurant has a very eclectic, arty vibe. We enjoyed several tapas. One memorable one was the flavorful deviled eggs. Our entrees--one a lamb dish, the other fish, were both delicious and moist. The chocolate expresso cake was fabulous and will likely linger on my mind for a while.

Local 188 used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Portland. Not any more. Prices seem to have crept up while the quality of the food has gone down. I had the brined chicken. Don't bother. And though the menu said $23, I was charged $25. Not a big deal but a sign that no one is paying attention... More

We had a great tapas-style dinner with friends at Local 188. We didn't have to make a reservation (always a bonus) and were seated right away. The staff is super friendly and wasn't at all bothered by how long it took us to order. Great drinks and beer list. Our favorites were the appetizers.

The decor and ambiance are quite fitting. The tapas were good and tasty with decent portions. The paella was acceptable but not authentic. There's free parking to the side in the back. Overall, it's probably 3.5 stars but the flavors of the tapas were good enough.

My $28 skirt steak was delicious, maybe 4-5oz, served with literally 3 small pieces of potato and 3 pieces of rutabaga and 5 pieces of lettuce. The very small pieces of bread served are annoyingly already covered with olive oil. The chicken dish one of my companions had, again, while delicious, looked like a third portion on a huge plate.... Nice decor, open kitchen. We had fried garlic tapas & scallops tapas that were delicious! They were 1-2 bites of deliciousness. We had a total of 4 tapas one better tasting than the other. We followed the tapas with a classic paella. It came out hot and plentiful with saffron rice bed. Service was attentive and not overbearing. Our water... More

About two weeks ago, I had my second meal at Local 188. We were a table of six, and most of us ordered the sam dishes or shared them. All of us liked our meals, and my own experience was very consistent with my previous visit. Being aware that the portions at Local 188 are extremely large, I ordered a... More

During a recent visit to Portland, I visited Local 188 for Sunday brunch based on Open Table reviews and a moderate number of people waiting for a table on the sidewalk outside (usually a good sign). After waiting approximately 15 minutes outside (which was not bad considering we arrived around noon), we were seated and were looking forward to a... More
