They were the working man sandwich, now they are a tourist staple. Amato's seems to be the go-to place but I feel that this is one of the best, if not the best Italian sandwich in the city. Fresh bread, seasoned to perfection, you can't go wrong!

My sisters and I ate here this morning I was a bit nervous because it was a "store" but the pizza was really good. We will return for sure!

I really want to like this place because of how nice the staff is, but the food is really quite bad. had a breakfast sandwich today. It was ordered as a pick up so as to be fresh, but was small, extremely soggy, and tasted of rancid cooking oil. Portland is full of awesome breakfast spots with killer items, step... More

This Sandwich shop and variety store has been in business since 1968. The service was great. We ordered our sandwiches and waited for them to be ready, altogether it took about 15 minutes for our order. The sandwiches were very tasty, some of the best we've ever had.

Been coming to this location since the early 1990's, and the quality and service both remain high. If anything, they've improved the food offerings. We go out of our way to go there. Much better than places like Amato's. Stopped in on the way out of state--convenient on/off hwy. location right off rte 295--grabbed a couple of double Italians, some... More

Excellent subs and sandwiches served quickly despite crowds at lunch. Call ahead and your meal will be ready on arrival. Good place to stop en route to airport, open daily @ 5am

We ate lunch here today. We chose Ananias over Amatos this time because my family believes Ananias makes a better Italian Sandwich. It was a very good sandwich but my husband and I could detect no difference between the two! We would return.

Years ago we got sandwiches there almost daily and they were very good! The price was right and it was convenient. The owner passed away and we recently stopped by for sandwiches we remembered. I could not eat it, The bread was very old and dried out..... the original owner would never serve a sandwich like that! It's now off... More

This place must be a gold mine, it was filled with customers at lunch hour, but I cannot understand how they get away with such awful food quality, quantity, and most of all, preparation. I purchased an Large Italian Cold Cut Sub. It was the worst ever, although the staff was firenldy. It was served on a foot long hot... More
