Brunch on vacation (especially in vacation land) is a must do for us Americans and you have some good choices in Ogunquit and the surrounding area to be sure. Almost any place can serve you up a decent plate of eggs benny and the usual...suspects. But then there are those exceptional ones that just seem to go above and beyond, impressing you at every turn. This is the Greenery Cafe. Parking was, as they say, a you know what with cars pulling in every few minutes waiting for an open space. Timing is everything and after a couple of passes we scored an open spot on a Sunday morning. We started off with the house-made cinnamon bun. Wow. My wife couldn't stop raving about it. I'm not a huge cinnamon-bun-in-the-morning kinda guy but it was amazing. Bloodies are good here with lots of garnishes. Mimosas are fresh and delicious. It was very, very busy at 10:30am and our food took a while longer than I was comfortable with. Get a muffin or a bun and nibble if you're the 'hangry' type as I am. The place is not a secret but it is in my opinion, a gem. Seafood in the morning is not for everybody, but I always go for it when in a seaside town because it's bound to be fresh. There's a lobster benny on the menu but something called the 'Saratoga' with jonah crab called to me. It's fresh jonah crab with sour creme and scallions mixed into so soft, perfectly cooked scrambles eggs. But they go a step further by adding an easy over egg OVER that, so you get a runny yolk just to guild the lily THEN they add their amazing hollandaise over that. Not diet food. Your'e on vacation, and it's glorious. Get it if you love crab. Potatoes are of the hash-brown variety, crispy on the outside from the grill and tender on the inside. Yum. Toast is fresh from a local purveyor nearby. The jam I asked for was a house-made rhubarb as fresh as Maine sunshine. My wife's classic Benny was perfect with smokey ham and perfectly executed poached eggs. I love a great hollandaise and the one here is exceptional. There are other creative spins on the menu here and I love a place that goes beyond the usual with brunch. The food is fresh, well prepared and delicious. You may wait a bit for your brunch, but you'll be glad you came. This place is a true gem.More

Food was outstanding...once it arrived. Server apparently had no idea what eggs over easy means, as both myself and another ordered our eggs that way and received them hard fried anyways. Food took an unbelievable amount of time to arrive. Server messed up numerous orders....Overall, what could have been a great experience was ruined by incompetent and unbearable service.More

What a great breakfast we had at the Greenery Cafe! We sat at a pub table in the bar area, looking out at the patio and road beyond. It is very nicely decorated, feels homey and has interesting stuff around. They are very covid aware,...reminding people to put on masks when not seated. They are clearly short of staff, as are most places here right now, but you would never have known it. Our server was extremely friendly, knowledgeable about the food (sausage links are better than the patties; when asked if hash came from a can or if it was homemade, she answered honestly, which I really appreciate). She took time to talk to people despite the many balls she obviously was juggling. The food was excellent. My friend had a veggie omelette with very fresh veggies. I had standard eggs, toast (homemade bread and jam) and huge sausage links, I could only eat 2 of the 3 served. I highly recommend this place!More

We were disappointed to learn that Bessie’s had closed since it was a breakfast favorite for quite a few years. However, The Greenery quickly became our new go-to for breakfast. The friendly staff made us feel at home; their professional was apparent in their explanation...of menu items. I order the huevos ranchero. Wow. What a breakfast. The combination of eggs, beans, cheese and salsa was quite satisfying! My husband created his own omelette with vegetables and cheese. It was not runny or dry. Vegetables had a bit of a crunch. One of our friends ordered the Reuben omelette. Well, potion was amazing (as was the taste). And, for the traditional eggs Benedict lover, The Greenery’s surpassed expectations. Do visit The Greenery when in the Ogunquit area. You’ll be pleasantly surprised. We liked it so much we returned the next day for breakfast.More
