We were a group of four, who turned up without a reservation on a Friday evening, but were immediately welcomed and shown to a table. The proprietor, who was also the chef, came out to shake hands. The menu was brought to the table on a blackboard, and was explained to us in English where necessary. The food was excellent,... More

We have been visiting this restaurant for over ten years now, and Nicolas never fails to deliver the best food ! The menu is presented on a blackboard with a starter of the day and a main dish of the day. everything is sourced locally, and cooked freshly. The ambiance whether in the small dining area near to the fire,... More

Second visit and an absolutely delicious lunch at this gem of a place. The food is just incredible and a lovely quaint restaurant in the countryside. Make sure you add it to the list of nearby or make the detour if not. Will be back again one day. Thanks for a superb meal.

We knew we had made a good choice as soon as we had stepped inside the restaurant and were warmly welcomed by the owners. Placed on a table by a glowing fireplace we enjoyed the antiques collection dotted around the room. The food was good honest French cooking, full of flavour, generous in portion size and always brought to the... More

I have been going there for many years several times a year for business meals (8 people) with other local people. We choose of the menu of the recommended daily specials. The dishes are typical and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The staff is mainly the wife of the owner who is very nice and very professional. The food is typically... More

Traditional home cooked French cuisine. I can honestly say that the pigs cheek was up there as one of the best meals I've ever eaten and we had a really enjoyable last night in France thanks to Auberge. The wine was delicious and the service was good. The atmosphere was really nice with a good amount of locals keeping the... More

We were very lucky to have this two minutes up the road and had ear marked it during our holiday, we ended up going on our last night and 'we saved the best til last' as they say.. Old fashioned hospitality with traditional food and a lovely ambience. We've loved the area so much we have already booked again and... More

This restaurant is so far out in the country that it has to be good to survive. And it is very good. The evening menu is presented on a blackboard. As well as their standards, they have a dish of the day for each of the starters and main course. Today it was goat's cheese with salad as a starter... More

Tucked away in the rolling Pays D'Auge is a charming house standing alone just outside the one horse quaint village of St Julian. St Julian's claim to fame being the Barriere St Julian Golf Course. As you leave you will see Auberge les Clos written on the grey slate tiles. We were greet by the chef and his dog. The... More

We go here a lot. Always a very warm welcome and in the winter there is a roaring log fire. Very quirky restaurant with many retro things to look at. The menu changes constantly and is always delicious. I believe that if you want to go there on a Sunday, you can telephone and order a roast chicken for lunch... More
