Had a fairly quick stop at the chowder house and was pleased to enjoy a cup of chowder and a great sandwich! Was perfect for a casual and quick lunch that was able to fulfill my cravings for clam chowder.
The food was over priced. The chowder was so hot we had to wait at least 15min before you could eat it. The older gentleman behind the counter was grumpy when it came to us, but had a smile for every other customer. Felt discriminated...More

We have had the same owner for 28 years, the whole time it has been open, we have changed the name 3 times it has been, Chowder Express, Morrison's and now Freeport Chowder House, he even let me name it, which i thought was very...More
This is a very small place off the main street in Freeport. I had the clam chowder in the bread bowl. It was hot and fresh and as an added bonus the bread bowl was the best I have ever eaten.
While the restaurant offers nothing in ambiance, the chowder was full of seafood. The broth was light and tasty. I wanted to tell the owners that with a little tlc, the ambiance could be refreshed. The black painted wood floors should be stripped and coated...More
