This place is directly across from the hotel we stayed in. The outside of the building definitely needs a facelift. When I first saw it, I didn't think it was in business, but then I saw quite a few people inside, so we ventured in. Our first of two visits was for dinner; the second, as couple of days later... Governor's has always been a favorite of my family's and this one located downstate from where I live isn't even close to a dissapointment. I really enjoyed how friendly our waiter was and he ended up with about a 40 dollar tip.

Casual, popular with the locals. Nice selection of food, and friendly service. It was very clean. There was an array of delicious looking desserts. Would go again.

I love taking a moment and watch the train go around the restaurant, there food is amazing and reasonable price and you get alot of food for the money. The deserts are scrumptious, if you don't have room after you eat ,take desert home with you ,you would not regret it. The restaurant and bathrooms are very clean .

We stopped here for dinner after spending the day in Acadia and Bar Harbor. We were seated promptly and placed our order. Our server was efficient and friendly. Our order was delivered promptly and was delicious. We were able to substitute side dishes for what was on the menu for no extra charge - something that is not common.

Stopped in at a nearby restaurant for lunch that we were visiting for the first time. Hamburgers were delicious as well as the taco salad. Extensive menu, friendly staff and well priced.

Governor's is a great place to eat in Ellsworth. Prices are reasonable parking is great and be very careful of the desert section. In fact it is recommended eat desert first because the meals will leave you more than satisfied we took our desert back to the room for later. Friday night fish fry was excellent with a large portion... More

Just had lunch. Waiter was very nice but the food is nothing special at all!!! Had the cranberry, almond, feta and chicken wrap. There were less than 10 tiny bites of chicken. Won't be going back there anytime.

They have been short on help for the past several months, long waiting lines couple with a hostess with a very poor attitude and her red hair certainly does not help. The menu varies I would say my favorite would be the meat loaf. The quality of the food varies from day to day, I would never say outstanding. Due... More
