The pluses: a quaint building overlooking the bay, a small outside upper deck patio, an accommodating server and owner and menu choices for our vegan granddaughters. The minuses: at dusk, the mosquitos outside were plentiful, the food was only average and the prices high. We...More

During our visit to Maine it has been very difficult to find restaurants that offer interesting food for both my omnivore friends and for me (vegan preference). While there was not much choice for vegans, there was enough - - even dessert. We all enjoyed...More

I had the fin and haddie a smoked cod dish that you don't see on most menus and my wife had a tempeh meatloaf. The restaurant is in a converted church and we ate at a table overlooking the river on what must have been...More

Wow! I am stunned! I thought I must be reading a review of another restaurant when I read ”Will not return” by Lovesgoodfood101 ! That could NOT be about Savory Maine! This restaurant serves thoughtfully prepared, ORGANIC nutritious meals for lunch and dinner which are,...More

The reviewer who called this place "pretentious and overpriced" is dead on. They clearly have delusions of being a fine dining establishment. We had a server who never once came back to check on us, probably because we asked her to explain some of the...More

Charming converted church. Menu includes locally grown veggies, farmed eggs and raised beef. Proprietor is Grace who cooks up wonderful soups, salads, quiches and sandwiches. The deserts were to die for!

We had not yet tried this restaurant in our new locale, and had relatives coming for lunch, so that made it a good opportunity. They are closed two days during the week during winter, so we missed our chance a previous day. The welcome was...More

We had lunch there and enjoyed the haddock chowder and meatloaf. The food was fresh, well prepared and nicely presented. The setting in a former church is interesting as is the rotating artwork.

We thoroughly enjoyed the entire dining experience at Savory Maine. The fact that the restaurant was once a small, intimate, simple church was charming, and it has been beautifully restored. The fact that the food is mostly sourced from local organic farms (listed in detail...More

Damariscotta is developing quite a restaurant scene but this little gem stands out both for atmosphere and food. I had the finnan haddie, which is a risky thing to order in New England. Savory's version of this traditional dish is lighter and fresher without sacrificing...More

Savory Maine Local Organic Restaurant and Provisions features delicious, creatively prepared food in our elegant dining room that was formerly the sanctuary of a church and before that a schoolroom. We locally source all of our produce, seafood poultry, pork beef, dairy and eggs. Essentially all of our food is organically grown, grass fed or wild harvested. Our muffins, scones, and cookies, rolls biscuits and desserts are all baked in house. We always have vegetarian, vegan and gluten free items on the menu and gladly modify our recipes to satisfy your dietary needs. Our lower level has cafe seating and a retail space that features Maine grown and produced food that has been organically grown, wild harvested or grass fed, and a selection of environmentally friendly, Maine made gift items. Takeout is available and with advanced notice we can prepare larger quantities for you special event. Our quiche and haddock chowder have a large and growing following. We hear "this is the best I've ever had" all the the time. We have a nice selection of organic beer and wine and delicious mead made with Maine wildflower honey. We have outside seating on our waterfront deck in the warm weather. Dogs and their well behaved owners are welcome there. We look forward to your visit.
