I had a cold and wasn't feeling well, but I went to dinner with friends after we had done our science workshops at Oxford Middle School. The atmosphere was rustic and cozy. The staff were frindly and the food was piping hot when served/ I look forward to another dinner next year when I hope to be in better health.

JR Maxwell's offers a great selection of entrees with many of the seafood choices you want to find in a family/pub style restaurant on the coast of Maine. It's a comfortable place with friendly service and good spacing between booths and tables and the bar which is up a level from one of the dining rooms. We both had variations... More

What a great restaurant in the Centre of Bath. Full range of food but we had fish and it was great. I'd have gone again if staying in Bath

J R Maxwell has been in downtown Bath for many years. We stopped in for dinner recently on a Saturday night. We arrived early as we had plans for later on. We were immediately seated and brought warm bread, which was very good. The beer list was nowhere near as extensive given the type of place it was (pub-ish). Dinner... More

This is a great, fun, family restaurant with all the menu items you would expect from a reliable venue. There are meat, seafood, and even children's items. The atmosphere is all wood and ships. It's a safe bet for lunch or dinner.

This is a return visit; venturing into Bath with a propensity for lunch Maxwell's name jumps to the front of the queue. Prompt seating in the north room; Gracious Server Katy had beverages and menus set promptly.Iced tea refreshing, kind to receive extra lemon too. My wife's fish and chips fit her wishes exactly; this scribe's steak was appropriately cooked... More

Our B & B hostess suggested we could enjoy a late dinner/snack here, after a drive up the coast. The staff allowed us time to peruse the beer and wine offerings, and helped with selecting locally brewed on tap beers. Although we did not order full meals, the waitress was gracious and didn't rush us. Their chowder and French Onion... More

The food is some of the best in the area. Staff are warm and welcoming. It is very charming. If you only have the opportunity to have one lunch or dinner while in the Bath/ Brunswick area- This is the place.
