we really enjoyed the food at the restaurant. Simple, but well prepared. They know what they are doing! The facilities are not the best, but who cares, when the food is great.

Traveling to Louisiana to visit with family. Wanted to have a good home cooked meal for lunch. Wife searched internet and came up with Rita Mae’s. I had one special of a crabmeat stuffed bell pepper, fried shrimp and mustard greens. WOW 👍. Great food,...More

We found Rita Mae's Kitchen on Trip Advisor and we could not have been happier. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the food was some of the best "home cooking" we have had. Service was prompt and we felt as if we belonged there.

I had a small bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo and it was average. I had the crawfish etouffee with potato salad and fried fish. The etouffee was not very good, needed more seasoning. Fish had a strong fishy smell to it. Potato salad was...More

Stopped here for a quick bite only it wasn't so quick. We both had the fried chicken with red beans and rice. It was very good. The only negative about the the place was the four gossipy women at the table next to us. So...More

A group of us were in the area on business and got a tip that this was a great place for lunch. Indeed it was with the three specials of the day listed on a board as we walked in. This place is NOT fancy...More

Rita Mae's was recommended by a local. Very skeptical, when we pulled up. Old house in need of much attention, limited parking, neighborhood in question(wouldn't want to try and find it in the dark).Took a chance anyway, inside wasn't any better, limited space, very dated...More

They always say not to judge a book by it's cover and that is definitely the case here. Went for lunch on a Saturday with a group of 9, lots of pressure for a little place like this. But they pulled us some tables together...More

I may be too late to answer this, but I am pretty sure I saw someone come in and get a bag to go. I'd call and ask. They're so friendly, they will help you.

Description
Rita Mae's Kitchen in Morgan City, LA is a quaint but amazing dining experience worth trying. Their famous chicken stew is unparalleled anywhere in anywhere in the South. Its inexpensive, incredibly food with a very loyal clientele. This may be one of Morgan City's best kept secrets. I'm back home in Washington State right now wishing I was there getting ready to tear into a plate of their food.
