I have been using this Hotel for 30 years ,from lunch, dinner, meetings, presentations, shoot lunches, swift pint. Had an excellent lunch here today with friends and am saddened to hear that it closes in it's present form on 18th December 2016. No doubt it will rise again from the ashes but twice as expensive-that is usually how it works. By the way, it... More

We came here with friends for lunch in November... easy to find on the A33 and plenty of parking space. The dining room was cosy and elegant and decorated in an 'Edwardian' style. The greeting from the waiting staff was friendly and polite... we were shown to our table and offered the menus and the wine list... all as it should... We ate in the restaurant a couple of times while we were staying in July. The menu described as 'Springtime' was a little out of season as it was high Summer when we visited. The food was ok but not inspired, it tended to be traditional English fare with large portions. It would be good to see some lighter options,... More

“Peaceful, friendly or so thought!” 3 of 5 starsReviewed 3 days ago NEW We choose this place as a stop over, somewhere quiet and peaceful as we had a family funeral to attend too. Checked in the reception guy was miserable not very welcoming, did not seem to understand me. Staff looked depressed half the time, waitress did not understand us... More

The restaurant is very relaxed and comfortable with beautiful leather sofas and chairs for comfort whilst socialising, with small bar and outside alfresco dining area. Like most quality restaurants the menu choice was limited, but food was of a very good standard, well presented, and promptly served.

This is a very olde worlde hotel, I think American tourists would love it, Jane Austen Country, but if you are looking for ultra modern this is not it.

The food is freshly cooked and nicely presented. The menu is varied with daily specials. The Breakfast menu has a lovely vegetarian option and the house breakfast would defeat many people with the quantity. All local fresh produce. Highly recommended

Ate here as was staying. Service quite slow and not the most friendly/helpful. Menu a little pretentious & not massive choice for non meat eaters. Drinks quite pricey. Food good value. Eggs Benedict tasty but not that hot. Mezze plater a reasonable starter option .
