It was a warm day, and we had walked around Baton Rouge for a while before returning to the casino. We wanted something to eat and saw the sign for Shucks but had a hard time figuring out which way(s) to go to get into the restaurant. Our waitress was young and (I think) inexperienced, but she was pleasant, and... More

I was in Baton Rouge for a concert and stopped in for a quick drink and light dinner. We sat at the bar thinking it would be quicker. We sat there for about 15 minutes and no one even acknowledged that we were there, even though there were three servers behind the bar. We then decided to move to a... More

I refuse to believe that this Shuck’s is run by the same people that run the restaurant in Abbeville. This is a blight on the name Shuck’s and if I was them I would either fix it up, move it, or close it down. We walked in via the walkway between the hotel and the Casino. As we were walking... More

Christmas eve wife and I visited the new location for this restaurant to order oysters and other seafood. It was crowded that night and the server was prompt and nice taking our order and serving it in short order. The grilled oysters were as good as any we've tried, perhaps better than most. They were perfectly cooked and tender. Wife... More

I was attending a conference near by and this place seemed like a good option. I was not disappointed eating the gumbo for lunch one day and returned for a shrimp po boy the next. Since I am not a fan of deep fat fried food that limited my choices but they did have a salad on the menu... A... More

I was in town for one night and decided to stay at the Belle of Baton Rouge. It was a Sunday night and the only open restaurant was at Shucks so I decided to check it out. The food was hot, fresh, and very tasty. I had the blackened tilapia and crawfish hushpuppies, very good! My friend had alligator bites... More

I went there on the weekend of 4th of July as one of the few places open when I was staying over the weekend for work in Downtown Baton Rouge. The staff was friendly, but the oyster po'boy was terrible: like fried-batter-covered-gum-erasers. I never went back.

...but was quite pleased. My first choice was the buffet, but it and the cafe were both closed, so I ended up in Shucks by default. I wasn't wowed by the choices on the menu, since I'm not usually a seafood guy and that was the main thrust. I got a shrimp po boy with fires and hush puppies and... More

Restaurant was very dark, table was dirty and the food was truly terrible. Server was very sweet. Did not open until noon and was only restaurant available for hotel guests.

Good view of the river. Food overcooked and mostly heavily fried. Service at the bar was very good. Service in the restaurant was not.
