When I think of BBQ joints (and I've been to quite a few), this is exactly what I think of. The service was fast and super friendly. I had the two meat plate with pulled pork and brisket. Both were absolutely perfect. As for sauce, I normally prefer the spicy stuff, but I really enjoyed the KY small batch the... More

Red State is a bit of a drive from town, but well worth the trip. The barbecue and the sides are amazing.

This is a really nice little restaurant for a casual date or just out with friends. Great menu, great taste, great place!

Made a special effort to go to Red State following a friend's recommendation. Absolutely worth the trip! It is a hole in the wall kind of place, but the bbq was outstanding. Be prepared to stand at the register and order from the menu board, then wait until they yell out your name when the food comes out of the... More

If they have it be sure to order the double smoked brisket. We had a trio plate and that was by far and away the winner.

On recommendation of a friend I stopped in this little BBQ joint that looks well worn by the locals. Not far off the interstate great for a stop along I-74/64. The parking is a little tight and probaly won't be a good stop if towing a trailer or large rv. Craft beer sweet tea and great smelling BBQ. The walls... More

Looking for something off the beaten path, friends and I went to Red State BBQ for lunch. We were visiting Lexington for a basketball game and wanted to avoid chain restaurants, so we found Red State BBQ. The food was really good (ribs fell right off the bone), the service was AMAZING AND FRIENDLY, and the prices were incredibly reasonable.... More

Our tour guide stopped by this place to try and we liked it so much we drove back for more. One of those drive by dives that only locals know about. Ribs so tender, fell apart when we picked them up, be sure to try all the sauces. Wasn't disappointed here at all and reasonably priced.

Ordered ribs and brisket. Also green beans, baked beans and mac and cheese. Green beans are way over cooked. Meat had a different taste, must be the spices they use. Mac and cheese was ok. The best were the baked beans. Friendly service. Just not a place you would go back

Really, really good BBQ, however on one visit they were out of several main courses and the second time we got there an hour before their closing time and they had run out of everything!
