My mother was gifted with a box of donuts and parties from this lovely bakery. She of course brought them home and I am so glad she did! The donuts were so good that I ate not one, but two for an afternoon snack! I...opened the box and picked a random donut and it was blueberry! I believe a blueberry cake donut. Regardless of the exact type, it was the BEST donut I’ve ever had in my life! It was so good I wanted to try another. This time I grabbed what looked and tasted like a maple glazed donut. It was absolutely amazing as well! It had been years since I had been to Burke’s. This was a lovely treat!!More
Our neighbors in GA are from Danville and told us if we ever traveled near there to definitely go to Burke's for the do-nut holes......we did....they were awesome! Fresh! We tried several other bakery goodies and all were scrumptious!
My wife and I drove to see some landmarks and saw this donut place advertising red velvet donuts. We went to were the Kentucky constitution was across the street and decided to check the donut place out. When we went on Sunday 26th around 2:45pm....They had all the baked goods that cost $5.45 for the whole thing wrapped in clear wrap on the top shelfs. I got a whole cinnamon pull apart baked good, and some danish wedding cookies. The two ladies working there seemed nice, but ready to go home at 4pm. We were lucky to come in when we did so we thought to get our baked goods. No red velvet donuts available by the way. We parked right in front of the store and were eggar to try out our sweets. So before we drove off we opened the cinnamon pull apart to try them and it was old and dry. The danish wedding cookies were also old. I went back in to get my money back for the cinnamon baked goods and asked the girl behind the counter if they had anything fresh made today and looked down on top of the counter and she said no just these frozen ones...wow solid as a rock. So this place definitely doesn’t make its own baked goods they have them in the back inside the freezer. They take them out of the freezer the night before. They even let my wife use the bathroom and let’s just say the place was not clean at all! You never know who is coming into your place of business to shop so you should always keep your place clean and fresh! If I was the owner or the manager I would be greatly disappointed going to this place. Old food and dirty atmosphere don’t get your sweets here!More
Burke's Bakery has been a tradition in my family as far as I can remember. This bakery is full of the nicest people and most delicious treats in town! Always fresh every single day. Some must haves are the Burke's rolls, donuts, and the holiday...gingerbread men! If you haven't gone to Burke's yet, what are you waiting for?More
While vacationing nearby, we popped in based on the reviews. We got a loaf of sourdough bread, a loaf of apple cinnamon bread and a mini peach pie. Each was amazing!! The cinnamon bread was topped with an icing...not too sweet but perfect. We ate...the breads for the next few days and they were still good heated up. The pie was awesome! We are stopping by again to grab more goodies to take home to family!More
Great place to get doughnuts. There are not a lot of good bakeries left but this is one. The staff has always been very friendly. Make sure you have cash as no cards accepted but there is an ATM in the store.
