We wanted to try this restaurant on our way back from Makers Mark distillery. Bardstown is a historic town so there is a sign ordinance which prohibits large signs. If you didn't know this restaurant was there you would drive right past it which we did several times. The restaurant is located inside of Spalding hall across from the municipal... More

On April 12th, as part of my quest for the best Hot Brown, my husband and I thought this would be the perfect setting for a Kentucky experience. The Rickhouse is located in a lower corner of Historical Spaulding Hall which is also home to the Oscar Getz Whiskey Museum and Bardstown Historical Museum. After a tour of the museums,... More

Slow, maybe under staffed. My steak was over cooked. The sides were great. Sit at our table for 45 minutes with just water. Was told they would bring some bread out. That final came when our food did.

Waiter knew less than nothing about the bourbon on the menu. We had two flights and we had to construct it ourselves. Not acceptable in bourbon country. Had the brownie and while it was cakey it was quite good.

Get the cheese sauce. Good ribeye for the money. The cheese sauce is awesome. Cool little gem hidden under the museum. 11 cheese sauce. Good bourbon and cocktails. Really, get something with the cheese sauce. Nice ambiance. Pretty sure the shrimp grits and mac & cheese have the cheese sauce. So get that. Or maybe have them bring you a... More

Considering the hype that we heard about Rickhouse we expected an extraordinary evening. Our experience, instead, ranked at the low end of our dining rating scale. A forgotten side order (for which we were charged). Uneven service (rushed, then slow). Unimaginative menu items. A single, harsh and bright light bulb dangling above our table in a metal shade (which we... More

We sincerely apologize for the discrepancies in opinion that you share with some of our other diners. First, we will begin with your title. We have a plethora of beautifully crafted cocktails, made (in most cases) with the spirit of your choice. It's unfortunate that you didn't visit our bar area, as it is a pleasurable and sometimes educational experience... More

My wife and I ate at the Rickhouse for dinner based on recommendations by Bardstown locals. The cozy atmosphere, excellent bourbon tasting selection and tasty entrees made for a enjoyable dinner. Supposedly they have excellent steaks but we opted for the shrimp and grits, bourbon chicken and scalloped potatoes instead. All of our dishes were very tasty, rich and satisfying.... More

We arrived to the Rickhouse to find that our reservation had somehow been omitted on Saturday March 25th even though we did have e-mail confirmation and spoke to someone on the phone. Amanda took care of us and got us a table, so all was well. Christopher was our server and was great. Drinks from George were excellent and our... More

We were in town for a weekend getaway and came across this hidden gem. At first we weren't sure based on the location but once we went inside we were amazed at the ambiance. Our server Christopher was outstanding and the manager on duty was very sweet and hospitable. Food and service were phenomenal. A must try for anyone in... More

Reasonable prices on a great bourbon selection....I think rock hill farms and Elmer t lee were about 8 bucks a pour....the steak wasn't the best I ever had but not bad, however the sides made up for anything lacking.. Best Brussel sprouts I ever eaten and scalloped potatoes...great service
