If you are looking for a nice change of pace in your dining experience, La Bodega is a great place to try. The Tapas are our favorite, love to sample and try each other's dishes.

We were able to secure a Friday evening table at this lively restaurant using OpenTable. This is a small plate paradise with over 2 dozen choices of hot and cold Tapas (there are a handful of full entrees but I didn't see anyone eating them because the tapas is so good). A great wine list as well as an unusual,... More

Wine list, food, management, staff and sometime music make this combined romantic half patio/bar with fire pits and half restaurant a great spot to meet for dinner and or drinks! Great specials on drinks, wine, sangria (1/2 price pitchers Sundays) and food specials, coupled with the atmosphere you forget you're in a Leawood strip mall! Great escape for a romantic... More

Atmoshpere is awesome. Food is excelllent!!!! Service is very good too. One of the times we went, they frogot part of our order so it took some extra time, and the manager was great, he came several times to apologize and they gave us some of the tapas for free!!! Really nice gesture! highly recommend for couples or friends!!!

The concept is nice, especially if you're not in the mood for a huge amount of food. My wife and I shared three small plates which was more than enough for a light dinner. The food was decent. The sangria was a bit disappointing. My impression is this would be a fun place to come with a crowd for a... More

I visited yesterday with a friend and thoroughly enjoyed a lovely lunch on the patio with 1/2 price Sangria. The food and drinks are pricey, but tasty.

Description
Tapas -- In the beginning. Tapas is a daily event in the life of the Spanish culture. Mainly a Northern Spain, Basque regional tradition, it has grown to signify a way of eating and socializing. It is said that tapas originated centuries ago. In Spanish, the word tapa or the verb tapar means "to cover." Tapas represents the Spanish custom of placing a piece of bread over the glass of wine. It is a custom that dates back past the 1500's. Traditionally, the exact food served is less important than the social occasion. It signifies leisure, camaraderie and good humor. In Spain, Tapas are almost always accompanied by wine. The wine is the medium that holds the conversation with friends and the food together. You make time to enjoy the moment in an unhurried way. The threefold purpose of snacking on tapas is to dull any hunger pangs that have built up since the previous intake of comestibles, to whet the appetite for the next, and to stimulate sociability, at which the Spanish excel.
