We have been to Mi Patria several times, eat-in once and otherwise, take-out. Excellent and consistently delicious every time! Our Son and Daughter-In-Law are Vegans, and they accommodate for them perfectly, so we can all enjoy dinner together. We LOVE the dinner for two---the two...More

The food was not as good as a sit down meal at Carmen’s Cuban Cafe & Lounge, but it’s great if you like fast food.

I’m a regular at Mi Patria. The food is fantastic, the portions are generous and the staff is welcoming. Decor is basic but you are there for the food. Highly recommend.

Service started out very slow. Considered leaving because it took so long for anyone to come take our drink order but because of the hype we gave it a chance. We ordered the cheese empanadas. Huge and fresh but not a lot of cheese inside....More

That may be correct. I would not think an Ecuadorian restaurant would be required to serve only Ecuadorian originated dishes.

I wouldn't expect a problem, but it is a good idea, none the less, to have a table.

Description
In March 2011 "Mi Patria" opened becoming the first and only Ecuadorian restaurant in Des Moines. Owner Cesar Miranda (Ecuadorian) with more than fifteen years of experience in the restaurant business, accomplished his dream by bringing the aromas and flavors of his country to Des Moines. A customer of the restaurant stated, "I never imagined finding an Ecuadorian restaurant in Iowa". This gives us an idea of the challenges Cesar Miranda encountered. Before opening the restaurant, Cesar and his wife Delilah exploited every opportunity to prepare, serve and sell their dishes in the different festivals and fairs in the area. They attended World Food Festivals for over four years in Des Moines. This allowed them to predict the success that they would have with their restaurant. Mi Patria offers menus for Lunch and Dinner. The restaurant has a Latin atmosphere with Ecuadorian ornaments and music.
