This place was recommended for its good Middle Eastern food. We only learned about the reasonable prices once we got there. Diners order at the counter and may take out or eat in. We chose eat in. We selected a table in the back room where the window overlooks the trash dumpster. We picked up napkins and plastic tableware, but... More

I'm Egyptian so by nature I have a longing for my food and this place offers it to some extent. The falafal is decent and the dressings they use is good, I like the fact that they have some extra for free like coleslaw and some other pickles if I remember right.

My organization frequently hires Oasis to provide catered lunches for a group of around thirty people. Typically, Oasis serves three or four main items, plus pita bread with hummus and baklava for dessert. I particularly enjoy their chicken kabobs, small hamburger patties, and Medietrranean salads.Others swear by their falafel. Some people may question the authenticity of the food, but I... More

Not authentic but never the less good. Better than a fast food joint off the interstate. A bit Americanized but still good. Healthy. Paleo delight.

Casual Mediterranean at its best! Great selection of salads, kabobs, falafel to die for and the best hummus you will ever experience.

We stopped here two separate times on our way through Iowa City based on the Trip Advisor listing and reviews. It was EXCELLENT! We had the sampler plate with Falafel, Tabbouleh, Couscous and Hummus with Pita. OMG! It was all sooooo delicious! One of the members of our party had the chicken pita sandwich and he loved it! He is... More

Seriously good grub. And they are available on Order Up! Chicken shwarma with roasted vegetables, a side of hummus, pita, and olives...add falafel with mango sauce and you've got the perfect meal. I could eat at Oasis every single day. Treat yourself and go for the baklava!

Unbelievable food! Very friendly staff! The Hummus... the Baklava... the Baba Ganoush... the Tebouleh... the Falafel... each one of these was the best we had eaten anywhere! The place is a bit small and plain looking, but you won't care because the whole staff is sooo nice and the food is the best Mediterranean food that I have had in... More

I can certify that this falafel is as good as the most famous one you can find in the Jewish district in Paris (rue des rosiers) in which I have been recently. Great surprise in the center of this little city.

Really cozy atmosphere. Fast service, good portions and a lot of variety/selection. You must try their freshly brewed authentic Turkish coffee. You won't regret it!

Description
Owners and friends Naftaly Stramer and Ofer Sivan created Oasis the Falafel Joint in the summer of 2004. After meeting for lunch in downtown Iowa City the duo lamented that (at the time) falafel was nowhere to be found, and vowed to right this wrong. Naftaly had just left the tech industry and Ofer had just completed his degree in engineering – an unlikely starting place for what would become the world’s best hummus, falafel and fries.
