I cook a mean brisket, so I am find very few restaurants that I think make a brisket better than I do. Woody's does make a better brisket than I do, and they do it on a consistent basis. The sides are varied and really good. An added bonus is the cornbread and honey you serve yourself. Des Moines is... More

Woody's is one of the best kept secrets of the Des Moines Metro. Just South of the Drake area, lies the best Bar-B-Que one can enjoy. I always judge a BBQ joint by it's baby back ribs. Woody's does it right consistently! If you like baby back ribs that fall off the bone, this is your kind of place. They... More

Attended a prjvate pafty here.Tender pulled pork, fork-tender brisket. Tasty sides, sauces, and most excellent apple crisp!. Dined outdoors in kind of a cramped seating area. Inside was very small. On-street parkinv. Checked out a menu, prices appeared reasonable. Service was very good, I'd dine here again...even if I had to pay for it!

Woody's is the only BBQ I really love. The ribs are fall off the bone juicy perfect 90% of the time, which is much better than any of the other BBQ places in town. The sides are all mediocre at best though. Don't miss the corn bread, it's amazing most of the time, but occasionally it won't taste quite right.... More

Almost every time I have been to Des Moines, I stop by Woody's. Even picked up a to go order once when just driving through. They are definitely worthy of a visit. Even if you love baby back ribs, be sure to try the brisket as well. And be sure to ask where the cornbread is (a big pan near... More

I visited this restaurant because I had read previous reviews. What a wonderful place. I had BBQ ribs with cole slaw and broccoli salad. The ribs came with five bones with meat that easily fell off. The broccoli salad was very good. Cole slaw as creamy and tasty. Corn bread is available to all with honey close by for those... More

It's very enjoyable to go to Woody's on a nice evening. Eating outdoors at this neighborhood eatery is so much like being in New Orleans. Plus they always have home made pie.

I eat here frequently for lunch. Have never had a bad meal at Woody's. Typically order either a brisket sandwich or baby back ribs. Most joints around Des Moines don't carry baby back ribs. I have also used them for catering on a number of occasions. They have excellent home made sides. I particularly like there pasta salad, probably best... More
