This was a great find. Food and atmosphere were exactly as advertised. My wife had the brisket and I had a combo: ribs, chicken, brisket. The ribs were good but a little too much bark for personal taste. The chicken was excellent!! The brisket was the star by far. Great! The collard greens were very good and the potatoes with... More

Wife and I thought we'd try it out. Very friendly staff and very clean place. Was able to get in on a Friday night at 7:00 with little wait. Food was as good as any other bar-b-que that we've had in DSM! Will go back.

My two sisters were in town for a John Prine show at the Civic Center and we decided to take them and six others to the Flying Mango for dinner before the show. What a wonderful experience we enjoyed. For starters, we were greeted by the owner who paid attention to our table all night, Funny and laid back, he... More

We were lucky to visit this small but mighty restaurant. Our staff took great care of us and all 6 of us got a superb meal! The BBQ shrimp and grits was to die for!

I'm a foodie! My wonderful sister-in-law knows this and planned an entire weekend around good places to eat in her home town of Des Moines. On the list was this little gem in which I was treated to some really great BBQ and some surprisingly fantastic southern food. Having been to NOLA I'm a bit of a critic now. I... More

Visited on Saturday. We had reservations right at 5:00. This place fills up fast so reservations are a must. There were 5 of us and Im pretty sure between us we had all varieties of meat. Chicken, ribs, andouille and brisket. The food is great. The cost is what Id say is on the high end for what Id expect... More

Had a great dinner with my 4 sisters and my brother all in town for annual sibling vacation. Owner even came out and introduced my brother as being the only boy on vacation with his 5 older sisters. Service was exceptional!

My fiancé and I came here about 3 weeks ago and we're excited to try this place. Based on the reviews we figured it would be wonderful, but boy were we wrong. Our waiter was incredibly short with us, never attempting to have a conversation more than 3 seconds long. We got the Smoked Chicken dip for an appetizer which... More
