The food is good; the service is great. However, unless you're a huge eater, order one meal and share with someone. We each ordered a meal, and each took home more than we ate. Next time we will order one meal and share it.

Nick's Patio is a South Bend tradition for some locals. The food is great! Service is great! And I've been here morning, noon, night, and late night. Any time you are hungry for some great food, Nick's is there for you. My favorite part of their huge menu is the breakfast, but I've never had something I didn't like from... More

We visited Nick's Patio for the first time last week. We were pleasantly surprised. It wasn't what we thought it was. We thought it would be noisy, rather dark, bar, etc. Rather, it's a pleasant family type restaurant. They have a wide range of food (serve breakfast all day). We found the food very good, the wait staff friendly; we... More

If you live in South Bend or are coming to watch a Notre Dame football or basketball game you have to stop and eat at Nick's. Open morning, noon, and night, Nick's provide a bountiful selections of great comfort food for the entire family. Though the decor is a bit dated, the staff is polite and attentive. We finished a photo job late and were hungry and decided on Nick's Patio. Because of the great service and good and plenty of food we always receive for the price. Sometimes we stop in for a snack and sometimes for a full meal and they have always been good. This time we were in the area but many times... More

We arrived in South Bend late and were directed to Nick's by locals. We were not disappointed. It is an old time diner with a very large selection of menu items. I had a late night special the Pizza Grilled cheese. It was Texas toast grilled cheese with sausage and meat sauce for dipping . Very tasty served with fries.... More

I grew up in South Bend, but I've never been to Nick's until recently. I wonder if the high rates are nostalgia votes or I hope that my experience was just an off one. The food was awful. I ordered what was supposed to be a Greek dish of lemon chicken with feta. I couldn't taste the lemon and was... More

......but somehow my plate is always empty when I'm done. It's not the best food I've ever eaten but it certainly is great liver & onions. This is my favorite spot in South Bend for liver and onions. I know some of you are cringing at the very thought of that. If you are one of the few of us... More

Sounds like a good place to avoid, based on the mgmt's acceptance of teenage boys to be rude and abusive to disabled female customers. I won't ever stop here on my way through SB.
