We were in South Bend for a family wedding and decided on Mexican for our one dinner out. What a fantastic spot! Close to our hotel, friendly service and great food! There were 10 of us and we enjoyed the chimigangas, salsa and chips, margaritas, quesadillas, and enchiladas! The owner even came out and spoke to us. Would def go... More

My husband and I are particularly addicted to the enchiladas. We always look forward to the fresh salsa as well. Excellent food and cozy surroundings. We cannot say enough about the amazing staff. They are all so kind and welcoming. You always feel like you are coming home.

This was our first encounter with Mexican food in South Bend. I read the reviews before we went so it looked pretty good. The chips and salsa were great (salsa is spicy). My wife ordered tacos which she said were ok; I had a similar reaction to the camarones al a diablo. My shrimp were in a spicy sauce...but a... More

Good find. Salsa was fresh and spicy. Mexicano Burrito was tasty with lots of onions cilantro and chopped up steak. Rice and refried beans were very good. I did NOT get an MSG headache for once. Service was friendly and fast. I recommend it for a reasonably priced, fast, quality meal.

I think we go here enough to be considered "regulars". We've tried most of the things on the menu by now. This past Saturday evening we went again - she had the seafood burrito (one of her favorites) and I tried something new - grilled trout smothered in veracruz sauce. Both entrees come with rice and beans. Wonderful as always!!

We love the food here. Always fresh and they will change anything you wish since all is made to order. No frozen burritos here. Their salsa is great and the Diablo sauce is hot. The owner and all the servers are friendly and attentive. Prices are very fair.

I shouldn't have expected much since we are in the Midwest (I'm used to delicious Mexican food in Texas). The margaritas are made from a mix (eww) and the enchiladas were a little better than Taco Bell. The chips and salsa were tasty (spicy!), the beans were good, and the atmosphere was cute. The staff was very friendly.

The interior of La Esperanza is not at all fancy (even nondescript), the staff is fast & friendly, & the chile rellenos are very good. A cut above most "authentic Mexican food" joints but not extraordinary.

The mexican food is good (don´t fill up with the chips). Try the enchilada with agua de horchata (rice water- does not sound as good as it is). This is a very friendly place. They have Spanish cable, so if you ever need a soccer game (champions league, any FIFA tournament), and do not know where to watch, this is... More
