Very nice ambiance and great food at Shapiros. I have been there several times and all of the food is delicious. My kids go to IU and always want to stop by Shapiro's prior to the drive.

We've been going to Shapiro's almost every time we're in Indy since college days many years ago. The food doesn't change, which is a good thing! We went twice over New Year's weekend for both brunch and dinner. The prices aren't cheap, but portions are VERY generous. We usually split the sandwiches because they are huge. Got some desserts to... More

If you don't know Shapiro's, you don't know...good eatin'! This place is a 'MUST Do' when in Indy! Seriously, you really must visit this place, which has been here for over one hundred years! They're known for their Reuben, which is 'to die for', but everything is excellent here. We 'adjust' our trips through Indy so as to be here... More

I've been eating at Shapiro's for many years, from it's former downtown location to it's present south side location, and continue to do so every time I go back to Indpls. (my home town). The food is excellent.

Shapiros is a cafeteria style restaurant with the best stuffed peppers and peppered beef on rye. But you can go for brunch. It also has great pies and cakes. Take home the rugalach.

A 10 minute walk from downtown will lead you to the doors of the historic deli. Family recipes are still made daily with loving care. Mile high sandwiches, hearty soups & daily specials are created in this classic deli. Salads, desserts, plus traditional Jewish favorites are prepared quickly. The bakery also offers soft rye bread, bagels, pies, cakes & cookies.... More

We were on our way to Nashville from Chicago and stopped here for lunch and we're not disappointed. With seven people (3 kids 5 and under) there was plenty of space and a great menu to sample from. The Reuben was massive and delicious. The salami and cheese was a hearty portion of meat just the way I prefer it.... More

The two others are Hollyhock Hill & St. Elmo. Both of these have been reviewed previously. No matter when you go, it's crowded. Be prepared to wait in a long line. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are fantastic. Portions are huge, service is great, it is the real deal. The Smoked Tongue on Pumpernickel is outa sight! So is the Chopped... More

The East Coast isn't the only place to get good delicatessen! This place has been here forever and the lines still wrap all the way around the inside of the dining room. The only complaint to be had would be the prices - for a corned beef sandwich, two sides, dessert, and a soda, you're looking at about $20 per... More

This Indy delicatessen has been here for years. It is just like it was 26 years ago when we ate here for the first time. The Reuben sandwich is renowned. It made one of the Super 46 best sandwiches in the State (which is touted by the department of tourism for the State). It is a huge sandwich. We got... More
