The restaurant is badly in need of updates but the food needs a major overhaul. To us it simply tasted as if everything was made from a can and not fresh ingredients. Sorry ... I hate giving reviews but this place had my hopes up for yummy authentic food and I was greatly disappointed.

Food is always top notch . Service is always excellent. In and out fairly fast. Would definitely recommend this great place to eat.

If a loyal customer base, particularly at lunch, is any sign of success, then this place is here to stay. It has a friendly atmosphere and a great location right next to Marsh on 116th. The food is tasty. If you're looking for a small restaurant alternative to the more crowded and noisier Chuy's on the northeast side, I suggest... More

Ate here for the first time this past weekend, despite it being close to my home. It's your typical 'American Mexican' restaurant. The menu has a good variety. Chips and salsa as usual. There is outdoor patio seating but it looks right at the parking lot. They have weekly drink specials, including margaritas. One word of advice though. Do not... More

The food and service was very good. The staff was very helpful friendly and suggested dishes to try. Many combinations to try and great margaritas.

I was visiting the area and ate here due to the reviews. It was excellent. I have a very specialized diet (extreme Paleo) and they were happy to accommodate my requests. I got their special guacamole and it was delicious, as was the dinner. I will be back next time I'm in the area.

I really enjoyed the pre-meal salsa and chips but that was about it. My enchiladas rancheros with pork had a disappointing amount of pork. They were cheese enchiladas topped with onion, peppers, and pork. My friend got the same dish except with beef and it looked better. Some other friends got the el tio especial which looked great. It was... More

We went here during the mid afternoon on a Sunday. There were 2-3 tables with guests when we walked in. Another couple walked in right when we did and about 10 minutes after we were seated, another couple walked in. We were seated within 2-3 minutes. Chips and salsa within 3mins of being seated. Drinks on the table within 7... More

In my opinion, El Camino Real has the best Mexican food in Indianapolis. My wife and I eat here almost on a weekly basis, and you won't find Mexican food like this anywhere else in Indianapolis. The staff is always friendly and great with our kids. Their salsa and queso are phenomenal and their rice and beans are always fresh... More

We were traveling through the area we stopped here because of reviews in trip advisor. Outside seating was fun, salsa was good, service quick but food was just OK. We didn't drink any margaritas but they were huge!
