I love this restaurant. It's a lovely restaurant in the heart of beautiful Bloomington, Indiana, located on the courthouse square. The food is always delicious and the service very good. Whether you're a vegetarian (like my husband) or a meat-lover, Samira has something for everyone. Nice touch.....a little, middle eastern style amuse-bouche appears at your table before your meal arrives. The... More

I'm a frequent visitor to Bloomington, but I never even realized this place existed, let alone have eaten there. Thank goodness for Trip Advisor reviews, which steered is here tonight. Everything was tasty, from the complimentary eggplant starter to the baklava for dessert. I had something called Mahi Tchallou (sp?), Which was a beautifully seasoned fish dish with basmati rice.... Several friends raved about this place so when we were visiting our son, we had to check it out. Certainly weren't disappointed! We had a reservation and were quickly seated in the back away from the door / cold as we asked. Great tasting and variety of foods, friendly staff and very nice ambiance. We'll be back!

If people think Afghani food is limited to milk and garbanzo beans, they'll be greatly surprised at the Samira. I recommend the lamb kabobs any way you want 'em. I've never known a diner who went to the Samira and went away unhappy

Serving Afghan recipes Samira's Restaurant has an awesome, tasty, (and reasonable) lunch buffet. They serve an appetizer of flat bread with a smooth humus. With a couple of rice options for a base then there is chicken, dishes with meatballs, okra, bean, zuccini, salads, fresh fruit and even baklava for dessert. The staff was very friendly and engaging. What an... More

Wonderful Afghani restaurant with a good variety of traditional dishes. Try them at lunch for a satisfying and well-priced buffet.

Visited on the advice of friends and glad I did! We had 7PM reservations and were seated about 7:20. The wait staff was understaffed, some confusion as to who was going to wait on the table, and took about 15 minutes to get our water and order placed. Appetizers arrived (hummus, samarok lawing, bolani) well before our drink order -... More

I would highly recommend! The food was delicious. They served us grilled eggplant and lentil soup or salad before our meal. Everything was great.

What an amazing place. Upscale dining but can do it in a sweatshirt. Couples, friends, families - perfect for whatever your setting. Get one of the dishes they are known for - Kebeeb or Manto/Aushak - they will BLOW YOU AWAY. Especially the lamb kabob. I would honestly each here every month if I lived in Bloomington.
