We loved our breakfast at Runcible Spoon a few months ago; however, this trip for lunch was severely lacking. The food (burger for hubby, soup/sandwich for me) was ok, but the restaurant was dirty, dusty, very unkept looking. Add to that the two female waitresses fighting in the drink prep area for 10 minutes, and we decided we would not... More

Close to the Bloomington ISU campus i would recommend this spot to everyone. The close seating arrangement encourages mingling with new people and the food was absolutely delicious.

We each got different breakfast items. The chef's omelet was outstanding, loaded with mushrooms and other goodies. The French Toast was done perfectly. The biscuits and gravy were tasty. Servers were quick and friendly.

Wow! Adorable venue, quirky and attentive staff, and delicious food. What's not to like? The coffee and tea selection is superb. Our vegan friend had a HUGE fruit bowl, while my daughter and I each had pancakes -- chocolate chip for her, pecan for me. We will definitely be back.

Our daughter goes to school at IU and we've tried several places to eat over the 3 years she has been here. Usually our experience is the food was ok, but nothing out of the ordinary. Our dinner at Runcible was an unexpected exception. The atmosphere is casual and simple, the tables small and a bit close to each other,... More

We had a fantastic breakfast, the bacon was very tasty and the pancakes delicious. The "Weekender" was a lot of food for $10!

They have a great breakfast selection. All the food is very good. Some unusual items worth trying. Can be very crowded on weekends and since the tables are very close together conversation can be challenging at times. Lunch and dinners are very good.

Sunday brunches are the best. If you work and go there for lunch, you must tell them you are on a time frame. Never have had a bad meal. Wait time on the weekends may be frustating but worth it. Very compact, so no privacy, but hey, we are here to eat.

We ate here for breakfast on an anniversary weekend trip. It was our first time to visit Runcible Spoon. I got a pancake, sausage, and eggs. My wife got Eggs Benedict, which she found to be fantastic. Very neat atmosphere and friendly staff. We'll be back.

This restaurant is setup in a re-purposed house, one block over from Kirkwood St.in downtown Bloomington, just a short walk from the inn I was staying at. It appears to be a long-standing institution and has a funky, bohemian vibe, typical of a college town. I arrived late to have dinner, but not to worry, as the place stays open... More
