Having driven out the way to meet family here I can,t say I was overly impressed and it wasn,t up to the 4-5 star I previously rated it . I had vegi bubble and squeak ..mash and a bit of cabbage with egg on top and a bit of spinach - I was very disappointed with this hardly any veg... More

We stayed in a cottage nearby and walked through the fields to the Fountain inn. It has a lovely atmosphere with a cosy fire and delicious food!

We chose this place to have a Sunday lunch as it was a halfway point between Surrey and Brighton and had been mentioned as a top 10 restaurant for lunch by the Guardian. Our welcome was severely lacking as there was nowhere or no-one obvious to aim for so we lurked in the corridor until we were approached. The hosts... More

Visit here whenever I'm with friends in West Sussex. It never fails to delight. Great menu and wine list, we had squid and the black pudding starters, the later came with the crispiest piece of bacon ever,,fab. For the main I can recommend the ham hock plate which was so moist and tasty all washed down with Montipluciano d'abruzzio. The... More

We went with two friends for lunch. We meet here two or three times a year as it is half way from where we live. On this occasion we made a reservation although it was not necessary as it was mid week. Our friends were already there and we decided to go straight to our table in the restaurant .... More

One of my favourite local pubs but what has happened. Last here in November for lunch and it was superb. Went for Sunday lunch yesterday and it was very disappointing. The Burger, which is usually a beautiful thing to behold had reduced to a small pate on a tired bun with a salsa type creation on the other half of... More

We had the pleasure of lunching on a couple of occasions last year, the food was top notch as was the service. Alex runs a very high quality and smooth running restaurant and pub, it`s a lovely old period pub with a fantastic garden. We will be back visiting very soon as spring is just around the corner.

visited this fine establishment on a dreary Monday evening in January, the moment i spotted the elegant decor i knew i had stumbled upon a hidden gem. I opted for the fish and chips, which tasted so fresh it could well have been caught from the pond outside (which by the way has some fantastic decking - looks ideal for... More

A group of 21 arranged to use the skittles alley on a Sunday. Alex, who's pub it is, and his staff were terrific: friendly, attentive and, when required, simply let us get on with playing skittles. Although we didn't use the pub as such (the skittles alley adjoins the pub) it looks EXACTLY the sort of pub I would like... More

Didn't live up to previous experience. We suggested the venue but felt let down. Service was very slow, attention poor, 'waitress' appeared bored and uninterested. Food was slow to appear even bread and oil took 20 mins to arrive and bread was unremarkable. Fat Chips described on menu were replaced with overcooked macdonald fries without explanation apparently 'waitress' forgot to... More
