This is our 3rd time here and it did not disappoint. I love the old school vibe supper club. It is a big restaurant with many places to sit. We love the main room with the fireplace. Service is excellent and so is the food....We ordered calamari and what a delight. Lightly battered and not over cooked, just rings no tentacles. Warm bread and butter service is a treat. Steaks are as expected in a steakhouse, perfectly medium rare as ordered and I love the beurre blanc lemon chicken. Very plentiful and a lot of green beans, maybe 10 oz that many! The key lime pie is the best in the area and I have had many slices but SCP has the best! Highly recommend and we will be back soon!More

We had a 5 star experience here with great food. The flaming duck and the rack of lamb were great. I plan o trying the prime rib next since I heard that was one of their signature meals. I think the duck rates right up...there. The interior decorating is a little different. The music is also different. I will let the customer judge that since the food and service definitely rates pretty high here. I hope my photo helps give you a first impression.More

This is by far the best steakhouse in the Chicagoland area! We have been there over 30 times in the past 5-6 years, for both business and pleasure. We have always had a great experience. They even saved our Thanksgiving one year when my brother...set the turkey on fire on his grill! Great service, great food, great environment! I half expect Dean Martin and the rest of the Rat Pack to be hanging out at the bar! Retro, but still elegant at the same time. Great wine list also! Not the cheapest game in town. However, they are not overpriced like some of the big chains we hear so much about... A fair price for an excellent experience! Try the Saganaki appetizer - Oompa! I highly recommend this place! I was looking for a new place for our wedding anniversary dinner. Turns out we have tried most steakhouses in the area, so it was time to head out further. I spotted this one on Yelp, and it looked pretty good. Good call. Ambiance wise,...this place has it nailed. The sound system is so good it sounded like they had live music, and no, I'm not kidding. The walls are covered with French and Italian art images, wine, life, very dark wood, nice ceiling structure, NICE BATHROOMS that were clean and well-cared for. A big fireplace on the north wall which wasn't in use since it was late spring and too warm for it, but it looks like it could be a nice feature in the cold of winter. Service wise, it was also an outstanding experience. We had Sal as our server, and he was perfect - attentive, made sure our food was good, pleasant, polite, and just an all-around great server who got a tip that matched that effort. Now on to the food. We considered an appetizer, but since we were a party of two, most of them are too large for us. They looked really tasty. You have your choice of a regular salad, a Caesar salad, or a "beautiful soup." I asked if the Caesar salad came with anchovies and it didn't, but they would be happy to add some and some were in the dressing. We asked for the anchovies to be added, and they were. Now THAT'S a Caesar Salad - it was very tasty, with a garlic toast for the crouton - my suggestion is to break that up and distribute it over the salad by the way. I had their large filet mignon, which is aged around 40 days and was just wonderful, melt in your mouth, char grilled where you could taste the char on the steak, and a wonderful, properly cooked piece of Filet. I had it with their wilted spinach, which was also appropriately portioned and tasted great. My wife had their "Crabby Steak" which was steak accompanied by soft shell crab. My wife is a big fan of seafood, and this was her first time with soft shell crab. She liked her dish which was served with a side order of mashed potatoes which were accompanied by spinach. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet to accompany the meal, which was quite good. Other things to consider: This place is somewhat old school - no online or email reservations, and don't leave it on the phone because they can't be sure they'll be able to accommodate you. What does that mean? We were there on a Monday (typical slow day for most restaurants, and this WASN'T A SLOW DAY. The place wasn't slammed with a line, but it was VERY FULL. So my advice, make a decision to come here, and call several days in advance to get your reservation in the book. I can see why some people say they live here - the food was fantastic, the service was exceptional, and the place is very nice.More

After an exhausting day in wind, ice, and snow, we recalled passing this place a couple of times. To say we were not familiar with the area is an understatement. We found out we'd picked the right place and time to arrive before the crowd....Definitely a place where there are "regulars" from the local scene. The bar looked inviting but we came in to dine and head back to our hotel and flop.. It felt as though we'd stepped into a time machine in the nicest way. Atmospheric low lighting and background music you don't have to shout above, helped to ease us into a zone of calm. Those coming to dine were a mix of ages, couples, families, singles. The menu, being a steakhouse, had good choices for the dedicated meat eaters. Though not a regular red meat eater myself, I did opt for the filet mignon. My husband chose the prime rib. Both delicious! The freshly baked rolls, Caesar salads, baked potatoes, were too. This was a very satisfying experience. Various menu choices for seafood lovers and even a vegetarian dish are among the offerings. It doesn't come cheap and yet, when you compare the tab with what you get here it's still a lot less than therapy. I didn't want to say "no" to dessert but was too full to have one. Next time in St. Charles, I'll leave room for one of the desserts or take the advice to "eat dessert first."More

Great food! This was the best Prime Rib we've in more than 20 years! The rest of the meal was also very good. Prices not ridiculously high. Nice & quiet (we ate early, mid-week). Cozy booth. Very good service. I ordered a Key Lime pie...dessert to take home. When I was ready to eat it, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it was a whole tart beautifully garnished with fresh berries and it was delicious! (you could tell it was made in-house). Quirky, eclectic, but still warm & inviting decor. Lots of fun art on the walls. Why 4 stars instead of 5? A couple things we feel need mentioning. The booth seats springs are broken down and kind of uncomfortable (I felt like I needed a booster seat!) and my Chopin Vodka Martini was very watered down. Other than those things, everything else including the staff were very nice. We will definitely be returning soon!More

My husband and I were in town preparing for my son's event the next day. I had printed the menu from here in advance, and we were looking forward to eating here, since we hadn't had saganaki since we were dating back in the '80s!...So it turned into kind of an anniversary meal, and although we didn't have reservations, we were seated immediately at a booth, which was nice. We started with the Flaming Saganaki ($10.99)(which the friendly waiter Sal told us is better when spread on the warm, delicious bread they provide). Hubby had the Oysters Rockefeller as his appetizer, but the last steakhouse we visited I ordered those and was disappointed, so I was shocked when these were everything I remembered - warm and savory, with delicious spinach and bacon. YUM. For dinner, I wanted the prime rib, but my husband thought it would be sweet to have the super large (32 oz.?) ribeye for two, so that's what we had. That was around $45 (?), but the quality of the meat was very high. We ended up taking some home, too. Hubby doesn't eat mushrooms (which came atop the steak), so I ate those, and my side was another delicious treat - a mashed potato dish with sour cream and chives. I couldn't finish it all, so took it home for the next day. Kev had a romaine salad, which he also said was very good, and his side was green beans, which he liked. We were too full for dessert, but I wish we lived closer so we could come back again and try some of their other delights. The whole meal for the 2 of us was under $150, but the quality of the food was very high, and the service was amazing. Somewhere in there, I also had a clam chowder, since we had just come from a vacation on the east coast, and that was extremely tasty as well. I had a soft drink and my husband had a beer. This is an indulgence, but if you're going out for a special occasion (or simply love good food), I would strongly recommend coming here. Things were quiet around 5, but picked up by the time we left at 6:30. Ask for Sal! You won't go wrong with the service, either.More

While at first glance it may appear expensive, keep in mind that the salad and sides are included-not extra. Great value and unique atmosphere.More

After reading so many positive reviews we were so looking forward to their "prime rib special for 2" carry out which consisted of 2 pieces of prime rib, 2 potato, 2 salad, and dinner rolls. One of the prime rib was excellent but the other...was mostly fat so there was not much left of meat. Now we understand that prime rib is not the leanest of meat and tends to be fatty but this piece was too fatty. The potatoes were tasty but the salads were terrible, mostly brown lettuce (not fresh), 1 grape tomato and 1 cucumber slice. We could not eat them. The dinner rolls were fresh and tasty. We had high expectations for this restaurant but I doubt we will return.More

What a great place to get a hunk of meat and more! Large inside with an eclectic interior. Started the night with a Duck Liver Pate which was scrumptious. Nice variety of accoutrements with the Pate as well and ample toasted bread pieces. Next up...a delicious homemade chicken noodle soup. Onto a classic wedge salad with plenty of blue cheese dressing. The service from the bar was lickity split with ample pours/mixes. Our server Dan was very attentive and paced our meal as requested. For dinner we had the bone in ribeye for two. Perfectly cooked with plenty of mushrooms and a nice baked potato and we added asparagus which was grilled to perfection. We had the world's smallest mouse for dessert just because(too filled). Plenty to take home. This is the place to go for steak lovers and I'm sure all the fare is just as fine as we had. No frills, just good old fashioned eats!!!More
