Ariston Cafe was on our list of landmarks to stop at, as we were doing the Route 66 road trip. What we did not check were the opening hours. We pulled over by the Cafe in a pouring rain only to realize it opens in 40 minutes. However, the kind lady owner saw our sorry wet faces and opened the... More

I have dined at this restaurant for over 60 years of my life. Just as happy now as I was 60 years ago. The service is great, and if their microwave died, they could still serve to you a great meal. For a sandwich, their Reuben is the best, and I have eaten Reubens all over the country. The salad... More

Wonderful service from everyone there. Great old fashion atmosphere, where everything was immaculate . We ordered tenderloin, horseshoe and Reuben and all were excellent. Save room for their wonderful desserts. They bring all the dessert choices to your table on a tray; it's hard to resist!

The Ariston Cafe is a cafe with better than cafe food. Nothing fancy for atmosphere, good service, busy, and very good food. We would go to again.

Always looking for local fare and this was a great one. Food was good, waitress was very friendly and gave us a lot of good ideas of where to stop on our travels.

I grew up in Litchfield and have eaten here since my earliest memories. This place has never disappointed. Even as a child, I enjoyed the boxy, old fashioned wooden booths, the big hanging globe light fixtures and interesting lunch counter. The food is always good. Service is great. The desserts...well...I hope you're not on a diet! Save room so you... More

The Ariston Cafe in Litchfield, Illinois, is the longest operating restaurant along the entire stretch of historic U.S. Route 66. Even more impressive, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2006. Can you name any other restaurant that has been named to the NRHP? Founded by Greek immigrant Pete Adam in Carlinville in 1924, the Ariston... More

This is a great old restaurant! The food was very good. Big portions. Server was a little slow but I think she was new. The manager helped me check out an buy some of their merchandise. I will definitely be back when I travel near here again.
