Excellent lunch, excellent sortiment of traditional Finnish Xmas meals including excellent service. This was not our first visit there and definitely not the last one. Turenki lies some 100 km from Helsinki and you can reach the oldest wooden station building in Finland built in 1862, by train from Helsinki or by car, about one hours journey.

The awesome restaurant building is an old railway station from the Russian period of Finnish history. It's like traveling back in time to early 20th century. Great atmosphere! Food is your standard semi-fine dining: good but not very imaginative. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Excellent locally produced food, loved especially home made French fries with excellent mayo and Hattula Hereford hamburger; Puhtikaura strawberry desert also highly recommend. Restaurant also understood my issue with Finnish lactose free products, they are only using low lactose butter, not typical Eila, Into etc products. Also excellent venue for meetings & events, not too far from HEL airport

If you've ever wondered how does it feel to dine in halls where the Czar of Russia did the same, here's your opportunity! A Finnish entrepreneur couple has renovated an old railway station to a fancy restaurant that favours local and wild food. Good for banquets & conferences, too. The prices are also royal, so not for the faint-hearted, but definitely worth every penny! I had the Hereford steak which was absolutely mouth-watering.

Maybe this was the 3rd time we were having a meal in the restaurant Turenki Station. We are always coming back here once a year, because the menu is always offering local specialties and the food supply follows Finland's natural cycle. The building is from 1862, and the owners have made an good effort to keep the 150 old railway history very lively here. This time we came at 15 o'clock in Saturday, so the restaurant was quite empty. We enjoyed the local food and the mood of the old railway station restaurant.

Ihastuttava miljöö, jonka uusi keittiömestari Auvo kruunaa. Ruoka oli vielä parempaa kuin aiemmin. Aitoja raaka-aineita kivalla modernilla vivahteella. Lovely place and the the new chef in the kitchen makes it even better. Pure ingredients with a modern hint. Try going there by train!

On our way to the Baroque Music Festival we stopped for a snack at the restaurant Turenki Station. The building is from 1862, and the owners have made an effort to keep that mood. We sat indoors to enjoy the interior decoration. The salad was fresh and tasty with grilled chicken and garlic sauce. Just what we needed. The menu is short with local specialties .http://eat.fi/fi/helsinki/ravintola-turengin-asema1/menu . The place is close to the Helsinki-Tampere highway, and on weekdays the train stops here, too. We had to find a certain cattle farm and the staff fount the address for us.

I can warmly recommend this restaurant for all friends of good food and pleasant restaurant experiences. At Turengin Asema you will be served professionally and small children are taken into consideration. The food is absolutely fantastic, made from fresh local seasonal ingredients. Personnel at Turengin Asema is highly skilled and they prepare excellent dishes for a variety of diets. High quality in food, service and milieu every day! Easy to come also by train from Helsinki and Tampere directions.

Worth a visit even from Helsinki. You can reach it also with a local train which stops in Turenki station. Unbelivably nice personnel and great food. Try the buffet on Sunday! Beautifully decorated rooms and ask the owner to tell the story about the building!

This didn't accept my review in Finnish so here it is very shortly in English :) Service was good and flexible. I forgot to order food for special diet (gluten free) but thank god it was still organized. Food tasted excellent and the owners were very friendly. I recommend for example for medium size workshops. You can get there by train or by car very easily (it's an old train station and still trains stop there).

We visited this twice in August. The food was very good especially on our second visit. It is better to sit in the old railway station to soak up the atmosphere of this converted railway station - early 1900s and which has been very tastefully fitted out - although you can sit outside as well. The railway station is still in use to add further atmosphere. I can recommend the steak which was very good. They also supply some good wines and beers. The owner is very helpful and the service was excellent. This is a bit of an oasis in an otherwise poor area for dining out - my wife has a cottage in a close by village so we have visited alternatives which frankly amount to very little. You would have to go to Hameenlinna to get anything approaching this and even so there are only a couple of places worth mentioning. I hope the owner succeeds with this (now a couple of years old I think). The Finns do not seem to eat out that much so it is hard.

This beautiful restaurant is housed in an old train station built in 1862, among the first in Finland. The place just recently changed as a functions-only restaurant so it might be up to luck to be able to eat here. We were fortunate to get a tip about their theme night which this time was Spain. First our group of 13 people got a short introduction about the spanish wine scene and the wines for the evening before departing to our lovely food journey. The meals (gazpacho, tapas, breast of chicken with chorizo sauce, crema catalan) were terriffic as well as the wines...and all of this for a very affordable price. Most definately worth a trip from Helsinki (or any other location)!
