We went today arrived at 15:00 and was seated promptly Whilst helping my youngest child into his seat was asked what we would like to drink I hadn’t even had a chance to sit down Food arrived and I had ordered a roast beef dinner...my beef was so fatty I couldn’t eat it when I attempted to get a member of staffs attention this was not possible nobody checked back at our table so my meal consisted of a Yorkshire pudding veg and potatoes as the beef was awful and inedible When a waiter finally came to clear our plates I explained I was disappointed as I couldn’t eat the beef he was shy and didn’t seem to know how to approach my complaint The manager I presume then came over and explained that it’s sirloin and it shouldn’t be fatty and asked what I would generally cook at home I found this very rude and if she would have seen the meat on my plate she would have seen it was fatty and not basically make out I’m a liar My meal was taken off the bill but I would have rather someone had checked back on us so I could have said then actually got to eat some meat I never complain and have eaten here lots previously overall the way it was dealt with was awful I had booked for the following weekend but have now cancelled as I feel like we was not treated with any respectMore

We had a nice meal at the Recruiting Sergeant, friendly staff, everything was very well set up for the re-opening with all tables under cover and lots of heaters. Food was nice and service was quick. They have a vast menu so we will be...back to try some more dishes.More

A splendid meal at this popular Norfolk gastropub today, and a good excuse to meet up with our eldest son and his fiancée. Excellent food, very generous portions and a good dining outside experience with patio heaters and blankets offered.

Such a lovely pub with friendly staff and delicious food! The pub had all social distancing measures in place, with a beautiful outdoor area with heaters for us all to keep warm. Plate sizes are huge so I recommend not eating breakfast if you're going...here for lunch as you don't need it!More

We have made numerous visits here over the past few years and I must say they have outdone themselves. Even with COVID restrictions on outdoor dining, they have managed to make an evening meal feel more like an event. Marquee, pods, freestanding heaters, hot water...bottles, blankets, fur seat covers, heated cushions, need I go on. Greeted with smiles, nothing was too difficult and exceptional food. Also, very dog friendly! We have visited with and without our two large furry friends and always had a lovely experience. Plus a nice walk along the river nearby. Definitely always make sure to come back here when we are in the area. A business that really deserves to do well. Thanks for another fabulous visit.More

Me and my boyfriend came here for food and drinks on the 12th April as things were eased. We couldn’t have picked a better place to go out for a meal! We had our own personal fire to keep us warm and heated pillows! Not...to mention the food was absolutely amazing too. We had scallops & duck bao buns for starters and they were amazing. 100% recommend the steak and kidney suet pudding as a main, it was great. I had the wagu burger and that was also amazing! Didn’t have room for dessert or cocktails so we’ll definitely have to return to try those. 10/10 stars if I couldMore
