We had the venison burger and the honey crisp apple crumble. Great food right in front of Millenium park and the bean. Historic building with a very nice decor.

Review for: 24 South Michigan Avenue | Chicago, IL 60603 This restaurant was the BEST dinner we had while in Chicago. We made a reservation which I highly recommend. They sat us promptly upon arrival. This was our first time to ‘The Gage’. We sat in a booth in the elevated section where we could see over most of the... More

Our family of four ate here for breakfast before going to Hamilton, and everything was fantastic. First, the staff, from the host and hostess to the bus boys, were delightful - efficient and friendly. The food was delicious - so many interesting items - we enjoyed the eggs benedict, peach french toast, and the big cinnamon roll -and the portions... More

I have been to the Gage several times, but this visit was a bit disappointed. Their signature Ruben had little meat and the sauerkraut was tasteless. It must have been an off day because I have had much better at the Gage.

I had a perfect meal at The Gage on New Year's Eve. I wasn't expecting a perfect meal; we were there because it was close to our hotel, and was accepting reservations for New Year's at the time we booked our trip. I didn't go in with lofty expectations. (Like, say, at Gordon Ramsay's Steakhouse in Las Vegas, at which... More

We stopped in here for lunch on a Saturday around 1:30. Although it was busy, we were able to be seated in about 5 minutes. Service was great and attentive, drinks were good, and my husband's dish was awesome (he got the jambalaya--if I came back, I would totally order this!) My dish, however, earned about 3 stars. I got... More

Traveling with my daughter to visit the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and stopped in after a day at the Art Institute in January to find a humming, buzzing speakeasy feel that was "SO chicago" to we out of towners" Loved it. We could only get a seat in the bar area (where my 17 year old remarked... More

It's tough to avoid bad tourist traps in locations like this but the Gage is a worthy place. I'm sure you can do better by looking in more obscure locations but thus place doesn't rely on location alone.

We had weekend brunch here on recommendation from a friend. I had the venison burger, which was large and excellent, served with above-average fries. My girlfriend ordered eggs-benedict, which she said was OK. I enjoyed the bite I tried, but it was made with a distinctive sausage instead of ham. Prices were decent for Chicago brunch, and the place had... More

Went in on a cold January night after seeing a performance at the Chicago Symphony Center. Was helped by the wait staff finding seating at the bar, on a busy night that was nice. Food, service all very good. Very energetic establishment. It's loud there so don't go for intimate conversation.
