Their Madison Street location serves sub-standard pizza. Inside, the restaurant looks like a real-deal Italian restaurant, given the decor of many sports and other photographs adoring its walls, but the food (and the experience) disappoints in many ways. Our server was very pleasant and communicative,...yet she was profusely, however excessively, apologetic about the delayed service, making us somewhat uncomfortable. Our pizza arrived with flaky crust that broke under the knife rather than got sliced. The toppings looked and tasted un-fresh, some pieces of meat were a bit shriveled like fallen autumn leaves. The pizza came on a round cardboard placed on a tray. A giveaway for a frozen item bought at a local store? The location draws tourists as the restaurant is on the way toward Michigan Ave, but we felt it was a tourist trap. This restaurant leaves much to be desired to call itself "Italian."More

We stopped here on a whim because it smelled so good as we walked past. The meatballs are amazing! We also had four cheese tortellini and gnocchi with meat sauce both were delicious and the portions are large.

Not a good experience. They made our pizza incorrectly so we waited for more than an hour for them to remake our original order. Despite this, they charged us full price and when I asked about it, I was told, “the manager is in a...meeting but he might be around for the night shift if you want to come back.” He then informed me that, “to be honest, it’s not going to change because that’s just the way things are around here.” And after all that, the pizza was average. Disappointing.More

We stopped here for dinner because it was close to our hotel. We were greeted by our server who was very accommodating, personable and had a great sense of humor, which was refreshing. For our appetizer, we ordered the raviolis. They were lightly fried and...delicious. I sampled the local beer, which was delicious and refreshing. I only wish I could remember the name! For our main courses, I ordered "Robert's Favorite" and my wife ordered the Penne Vodka. Both were amazing! But...Beware...You'd better have a big appetite! The portions are huge! My wife and I would have been just fine ordering one pasta dish to share. I only wish they would have explained that first. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is awesome; decked out in Chicago sports memorabilia. We'll have to try Pizano's again, but we'll split a dish next time.More

In city on business, recommendation came from the hotel. Great food! Waiter was fantastic! I had the gluten free ravioli with Alfredo sauce. I haven’t had a ravioli since I had to eat GF. I would recommend for GF food.

The food was really good and the portions were huge - we could have served a family of 4 on my dish alone.

I had such a great experience at the Pizano's on State, I decided I had to try the location on Monroe since I was staying in the Loop. Same great pizza and service. Washed it down with a couple of good beers. Big screen televisions...with lots of college football to watch. Ate the bar since I was by myself. Great time.More

Came to Chicago for baseball, hotdogs, jazz and Pizza. Staying close to Giordano’s so tried there first. But not taking reservations and had a two hour wait, even for take out. This place was close so walked over and got right in, even though very...busy. Friendly hard working attentive staff. Authentic Chicago atmosphere, and great selection of Italian dishes. (Really need to come back and try a few other things.) But, we came for the pizza, and ordered a medium deep dish (Chicago style) sausage, mushrooms, basil, tomatoes and green peppers. But the Pizza takes a while. (Did I mention that is is Deep Dish?) so we started with calamari (my favorite) and a salad. Salad was nothing to write home about but was a serviceable house salad. The calamari on the other hand were a 9.5 on my 10 scale. Fried crisp, fresh and tender, while sufficiently firm and not chewy. Served with fresh lemon and a simple house crush tomato marinara. Next came the pizza. We should have ordered the small as the medium was two slices too much two people. It was my first experience with Chicago style deep dish and the only disappointment was we simply could not eat it all. Even after I pushed the last two slices away, I kept coming back for just another nibble. The crust was incredible, thick, crisp and caramelized just a bit. And it stayed crisp without getting soggy as the meal went on. Significantly, the sauce of crushed tomatoes was subtle and not overloaded with garlic, oregano and other herbs and spices. That really allowed the remainder of the toppings, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, basil, and green peppers and creamy mozzarella to play starring roles. I have no other Chicago pizza experience to compare it to, so I’m just going to say it was a great pizza and we whited the experience, . . . And, I give Pizano’s 5 bubbles!More

Usually I don’t write bad reviews but we came to grab a slice, it’s cost 5 USD. The dough was like crust and not eatable and the cover not good too.

It took a while to get seated, not because they were slammed (they were busy though) but because the hostess and someone who helped her weren't there, and they seemed very confused about seating people when they got back to the station. It took awhile...to get waited on and drinks, but after that things went smoother. I was super excited for a deep dish pizza. The crust however was terrible. It was too hard to bite through and actually tasted like cardboard. I really think it had been frozen and then re-cooked. My friend had pasta that she said was fine.More
