Saturday Feb. 11 tried to have lunch before show. An hour and 20 minutes later and no food had to walk out. Emailed Macy's about the poor experience, phone rang within 15 minutes of submitting. Left voicemail that she would contact me. I guess she is too busy also. No one really cares anymore.

Wow, talk about going downhill. This place used to have it all together when it was still in Marshall Field's. Apparently Macy's has decided not to maintain the room, the staffing, or the food quality here. Took two hours to eat lunch. With no food on the table for the first hour and a half. I've eaten here dozens of... More

Macy's is not respecting Marshall Field history. The 7th floor is a mess of random walls, I hope it is all temporary. The Walnut Room looks nice but I felt like it has been been neglected. Marshall Fields should be a showcase but the floors are all cracking, walls dirty, elevators & escalators out of order. This is a historic... More

I can't go to Chicago without having a meal at the Walnut Room. As always, our food was delicious. The Peach Nest Salad is light, yet filling. The Frango mint cheesecake is my favorite dessert of all time. It never fails to disappoint. The service was amazing as always.

We randomly came over Christmas and got in on a Thursday right before open so the wait was only about 30 minutes. It was soooo crowded / but expected as this is THE place to be historically for Christmas. The tree is ginormous...and beautiful. Despite the wait...the service was good and the fairies were lovely to the kids. The food... More

Had lunch at the Walnut Room with my daughter yesterday and disappointed to say it wasn't a good experience. The wait for our food was over an hour. No silverware on the table and had to wait for 10 minutes after our appetizer was served as the waitress forgot. Ran out of bread....said the kitchen was extremely backed up. Aside... More

Taking the granddaughters here to receive a fairy princess greeting and wish is always on our list at holiday time The chicken pot pie is good and the service at such a busy time is excellent however we never have luck to sit close to the tree but our granddaughters are so thrilled to see the princess that it doesn't... We have a family tradition of visiting The Walnut Room at Christmas during our annual Chicago adventure. The fantastic Christmas tree is worth the visit alone. But is you have the time, savor lunch as a respite from the holiday hustle and bustle.

There are certain things that one does just for the experience. The Walnut Room is one of them. I'm glad we made reservations, because the line for walk-ins was much too long. The service was superb. The atmosphere was unmatched, featuring a huge Christmas tree in the middle of the room. The menu was varied and reasonably priced, with a... More

We visited at Christmas and had a lovely lunch. The chicken pie is a tradition in the restaurant as it was the inspiration for its founding. We noticed it was ordered by a great number of people and it was perfectly fine. The original setting has been retained by Macy's. At Christmas a huge lighted tree greets guests and the... More
