I was following some old recommendations of this place but it seems that the Michelin years are long over. After entering it looked as if I was bothering the chatting waiters with my presence and it took some time to acknowedge that they are there for the customer and not the other way around. There is green tea and a... More

We selected this restaurant based on the reviews. I had the orange beef. My son had a mixed vegetables dish, but there were pieces of chicken in it. Somewhat disappointed. Nothing special about the food.

We were looking for a good Peiking duck restaurant and chose this restaurant based upon the favorable notices posted in the window. We were mistaken. The first difficulty was finding a server that speaks some English in order to ask questions about the menu. The menu does not describe the entrees; and after repeated attempts we still could not determine... More

A friend took me on my first visit to Chinatown and to one of her favorite places there. The food was outstanding, the service terrific and the portions were enormous! Can't wait to get back!

What a surprise treat this was! I walked through the log stretch of shops and restaurants. For some reason I kept walking even though some places had some amazing looking dishes prominently displayed. Thankfully Lao Sze was at the end and they had TripAdvisor and Yelp! signs all over the doors. I went in. Traveling to Chicago for business I... More

This is a terrific Szechuan restaurant that is very reasonably priced. It is the original of the branch that is now located on Michigan Avenue. Having been to both, I prefer this one for its authenticity and its pricing!

Our son who lives in Chicago took us to this restaurant. We ordered several appetizers and entrees which we all shared and everything I tasted was amazing. Highlights included Tonys Chicken, garlic chicken and Kung Pao Chix. Can't wait to visit our son again soon and revisit this excellent restaurant.

Thank Rick C

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown may be one of Chicago’s smallest neighborhoods geographically, but it's big on character, colors, sights, sounds, and flavors. In this South Side neighborhood, you’ll find authentic Chinese restaurants dotting the length of Wentworth Avenue. After a meal of dim sum, noodles, duck or other tantalizing food specialties, satiate your visual appetite with dozens of public art sculptures sprinkled throughout the neighborhood ranging from animal structures to pagodas, a tile mosaic, Chinatown Gate, and a Buddhist Temple.
