Food and service was great. Only miss for me was a Truffle laced dessert but that is just personal preference. Really a 4.5 star review if that was possible. Only reason for not giving this 5 Stars was the prix fixe was too conservative for my tastes at $195 pp

It has deserved the addition of a 2nd Michelin star. Tru has always had a wonderful reputation. Chef Anthony Martin balances complex and simple dishes perfectly in his 8 course menu. The vibe is posh, elegant, and romantic. The Andy Warhol that adorns one wall and the jacket required policy are extra touches that gives this place that overall high-end... More

While this restaurant is receiving an amazing array of reviews, I was fortunate enough to be invited by my girlfriend at Tru on our first trip to Chicago. Being from Montreal where we are pretty fortunate by the quality of the dining scene, I had high expectations....and we weren't disappointed. The experience starts with how they welcome you and the... More

I had a good meal at TRU, taking the tasting menu and the wine pairing. Overall the meal was enjoyable and there were definitely amazing highlights- but a couple of the courses were a bit boring and lacked the inventiveness you would expect of a 2-star Michelin place. The service was impeccable, the sommelier making excellent choices throughout and the... More

At Tru the friendly professional service, presentation, taste and ambiance combine for a memorable experience. It's the prefect place for a big celebration with your significant other. The problem with upscale restaurants i usually have is a pretentious ambiance that can override an otherwise good experience no matter the quality of the food. This is not so at TRU. Despite... Read a couple reviews that were pretty good and saw it on a "top" list from some website. Room is very different to say the least. Did the 8 course, Sorry to say not one course knocked out socks off; fish was dry, not much creativity. Service was friendly and did offer a nice red during the red meat course.... More

Yes, it's great. Yes, I've read some of the "not so grand" reviews. And I'm surprised. We're not new to big hype, Michelin starred restaurants whether they're here or abroad. This is one of the finest dinning experiences we've ever had. The decor is beautiful - elegant and contemporary, but decor is a matter of taste. Food: Please... the preparation... More

I had the distinct honor of dining at Tru on its opening night years and years ago when gastronomic dining was relatively new to Chicago. It was a glorious experience. I have enjoyed dined at Tru many times over the years and have always considered it a treat. Unfortunately its glory days are over. Until last night, it had been... More

The setting is very elegant. The service aspires to be, and nearly succeeds. The vision of service is a little muddled, or the elegant and composed vision is a little unreliably executed. The synchronized pouring of water suggests a choreographed experience, but the reality is very mixed. One gets the feeling that the staff is struggling a little with new... More

Excellent restaurant and it does not surprise me that this place garners a lot of attention from critics and a Michelin star. The staff were all lovely and the food was excellent from start to finish. We dined with another couple and did two full and two reduced tastings and shared a bit. The chef and team did a wonderful... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Magnificent Mile
Over 400 stores pack the concrete along Michigan Avenue, the eight-block stretch known as Magnificent Mile. This area between Oak Avenue and the Chicago River is more a shopping paradise than a full-out neighborhood. For prime upscale shopping, this is the place to go. It’s busy, energetic, and packed with shoppers. You'll also find hundreds of restaurants and dozens of hotels, all on the mid- to high-end scale. Some of the city’s most iconic buildings like the Wrigley Building, John Hancock Center and other architectural marvels define the magnificence of this neighborhood.
