Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We used to love this place. 10 years ago I would have said this is your go to Irish Pub with great Irish food. You would think late afternoon on St. Patrick’s Day they would be hopping, that should have been our indication since they...were very empty when other places you couldn’t get in the door. Food was not good. Corned beef sandwich on wildly rye with no more than 3-4 ounces of corned beef. Shepards pie was anything but good. Instant potatoes that looked as though they were put on top with a spoon over a bland ground beef and peas mixture, devoid of flavor and wasn’t even put under the heat to brown the instant potato clumps. They even served my Guinness in a 12 ounce plastic cup and charged $7.00. After at least 20 years of going here, this will be my last visit. There are to many other really good Irish places within a 20 minute drive.More

The service is so bad we had to beg for a food menus 45 minutes ago and she still has not returned to our table. We've had to walk to the bar and get our own drinks. This place is terrible service and it didn't...used to be this bad...... leaving and heading elsewhere to spend our money.More

We were there to listen to the Second Hand Soul live band and enjoy food and a drink. I ordered their house salad - that was delicious. We also ordered home made huge mozzarella sticks that I suggest you try. They are delicious. We also...ordered buffalo chicken wings, which we also recommend. The waitress from Ireland was very helpful and friendly.More

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Galvin's yet! I live in the neighborhood and have been coming here for years, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. There have been some moderations since the change of ownership a couple of years...ago, and they're ALL GOOD! The food is delicious. You can tell that the chef really takes pride in what he makes, and there are seasonal specials daily. On Tuesdays they have the biggest, juiciest burgers you can get for $2. On Wednesdays they have 50c jumbo wings (and they really are jumbo). I recommend the Jameson flavored. They're my favorite. They also have trivia on Wednesday nights and it's a blast! I know they have specials other days of the week, but I'm not sure what they are. My favorite dish is the bangers & mash. The mash is made in house, and it shows. The bangers are made LOCALLY and you can definitely taste the difference. The staff is so friendly. Come here a couple times, and you'll be remembered by name. They make you feel at home right away. The same goes with the regular patrons. I've never been one to go to bars alone, but I feel 100% comfortable going into Galvin's for a pint or a cup of tea and dessert by myself. In fact, I've met some really great people this way! They even have a VERY nice party room you can book with a private bar and restroom. I'm actually having my baby shower there next month! Whether you're looking for a family pub for dinner, a place to get together and socialize and catch a game, or a good time with great live music on a Saturday night, Galvin's is the place.More

This is just down the street from me and was recently acquired by new owners who are doing a great job. The food is delicious, the staff and manager are all extremely nice and friendly, and they now serve brunch which is also delicious and...includes a great mimosa and bloody Mary deal. The outdoor sidewalk patio is a nice option, and my husband and I are now regulars.More

Was there twice in the last week, and both experiences were top notch. It's a wood paneled oasis with a roaring fireplace. The food (corned beef entrée for lunch one day and Sheppards Pie another day) was fresh and delicious. Besides my choice, others had...Bangers and Mash, Irish Breakfast, the ever popular Fish & Chips (homemade!!), chicken ceasar wrap and BLTs. Everyone was extremely happy with their choices and even tho there were 11 of us, service was friendly and fast. Will we go back? You betcha!!!More

A local bar that has been around for a while, there is plenty of off-street parking. The interior decor is the typical Irish-American pub. The staff was friendly and attentive. They provide crayons and coloring sheets for the kids. We had the appetizer platter which...consisted of wings, tenders and onion rings. Everything was hot with two dipping sauces. We also tried the reuben sandwich with tater tots. The corned beef tasted very good.More

On a Sunday afternoon with multiple TVs blaring the Bears game (for 3 other customers!), this is no longer a place to eat a meal in peace or converse. The last time we ate here (several years ago), the food was much tastier and there...weren't as many TVs. This time we stopped in on the way back home from the Irish American Heritage Center. The shepherd's pie was really greasy and although the sausages on the sausage and mash were good, the mash seemed old and re-heated. We will not return.More
