The Roasted Salmon with Red Quinoa, Spring Peas, Bacon + Roasted Garlic with Piquillo Sauce is one of the best dishes I have ever had.
I highly recommend this restaurant and plan on coming back anytime I’m in Chicago.
Decent whiskey selection
About 12 years ago I visited the Purple Pig and wasn’t back in Chicago until last week. My soon to be step daughter was accepted to Med school there and me, my fiancé and soon to be step daughter spent a long weekend looking for...housing and touring the city. I made reservations for Friday night 7:30pm and had full expectations of nothing short of fabulous. I was not disappointed. We had an incredible server, allowing us ample time to look over the menu, order glasses of wine and in no way were we rushed along to make choices. We sat close to the bar/ kitchen and watched in awe the kitchen staff of 5 perform like a ballet. We allowed our server to pick our appetizer and no dissatisfaction in the cheese / meat plate. The duck and sharp cheddar were a favorite and paired well with the red wine. While waiting on our main course the person in charge of wine and a co-worker were sampling different wines. They noticed us watching and poured three glasses of a white slightly carbonated wine. It was different in a great way. Once dinner arrived we were brought another sample but this time a red from the same winery. It was by far the best any of us have ever had and impressed with the taste as well as the price(we bought a bottle/$60 and finished most of it with dinner. Due to being carbonated it’s a one and done bottle but well worth it.. our server picked out our entrees and the choices she made were spot on and delicious. The entire staff was top notch and highly recommend The Purple Pig anytime you are in the Chicago area. Simply Outstanding!!! The Sparkling wine was Les Chuchaquis 2020More
Order: Bone marrow, beets, turkey leg, pork shoulder, and crispy pig ears and kale
Okay, I'm a very good cook and if I spend money at a restaurant the expectation is it would take me a lot of time and effort to recreate the dish....The Purple Pig is a must. Ive been here over a dozen times. Every trip to Chicago I visit here, this time we ordered delivery to a west suburb. First of all, Jimmy Bannos Jr. HIMSELF delivered the order. My favorite is the bone marrow: they give you 6 slices of bread, use 4 of them to put the bone marrow on then some large salt, and the parsley salad on the top. Amazing. Save the other two slices of bread and place them underneath the turkey leg, this will produce what we call "turkey crack." The bread soaks up all of the turkey juices. I do wish there was more juice in the take-out container. Oh, and by the way the pig ears in the kale salad were still CRISPY. I mean they have been sitting in a steamed container and they were crispy, guys...amazing. The kale did lose crisp but that is expected with take out, but did I mention the perfectly cooked egg that just oozes out. The pork shoulder is like BUTTER. Make sure you check out the days when you can order take-out. Happy eating.More
This has been one of my favorite spots in Chicago for sometime. While in Chicago looking for the place I don’t that they moved from the last property. So we popped in for a cocktail and ordered the beets with goat cheese. It was incredible.... I asked the server if they had the rosemary roasted almonds but unfortunately with the Covid they could not get it from the distributor. That was sad because it was one of my favorite things to snack on. But the food there is magnificent the restaurant is clean and their staff is very friendly. You must visit this place while in ChicagoMore
We have been here several times and it’s been always a great experience. Even with the reduced menu due to COVID capacity limitation we have always found a great option. The liver and bacon pate is spectacular. Wine options are also very good.
