The Maple Tree Inn at 13301 Olde Western Avenue in Blue Island is proof that there are some very good restaurants in the south suburbs. This is a spinoff of a Louisiana Brasserie that specializes in Cajun/Creole cuisine. You have to get used to it, of course, because crawfish and catfish and gumbo and red beans and cornbread and red-eye... More

We went for our monthly date night. It was very nice on the inside and the music was jammin ! The food was great . For starters we ordered shrimp po boy flat bread. the shrimp was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. I loved the gumbo it was spot on with just enough heat. Simply put DELISH and it was... More

Beautiful place but lately owners are trying too hard to be unusual with their food and drink specials. We've had a few and they weren't very good. The shrimp, ettoufee, beer (if its cold enough), jambalaya are good. The fancy specials just aren't very good for the $. Need some food for kids on the menu.

GO EARLY! Spend some time and enjoy the ambience...invest in a Killer Mai Tai! Then, for starters, do the Charlie's oysters. They set the stage for an incredible meal! The oysters were fabulous, and my evening did not stop there. The service was great. Emily really lnew her way sriund the menu and was very attrntive. The appetizer and entree... More

My wife and I were born and raised in Blue Island, Chicago's closest south suburb. In the 1950s and 1960s, one of the most popular restaurants was Helen's Old Lantern, owned and operated by a Damon Runyon-type character named Helen Sadunas for nearly 50 years. The restaurant began as a roadhouse in the 1800s, then became a neighborhood tavern. There... More

The food and service is always good. Very accommodating. My husband does not like mussels and they left it out of his dish. We always get the 2x2x2 oysters but I wish they still served the toast points with this. There are just to many good juices to sop up.

Getting a chance to see the woodwork behind the bar is worth the visit alone. Beware the bar stools, they weigh a ton. So get comfortable before you sit. This pub has a cool old euro feel with some NO charm. I especially enjoyed the dressed alligator on the ceiling. I ventured along in the draught beer selection and mis-fired... More

This restaurant is absolutely amazing the moment you step in you think you are in New Orleans. The staff is so friendly Emily the bartender makes a great hurricane, the drinks are fabulous. Mickey waited on us she was great the wait staff was on point they didn't let glitter gather on the table. The food was incredible as good... More

I've never been to this area of Blue Island, and I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. The Maple Tree Inn was recommended by my girlfriend, and man she was spot on. The atmosphere is awesome, dark and low key. Everyone was was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and building. I would recommend any cocktail that the... More
