Had my heart set on dinner while I was visiting & was told there was a 2.3 - 3 hour wait at 5:45! Needless to say after 2 hours of starving we left & ate somewhere else. This was even more disappointing because we saw & heard several people in front of us cancel but we were still made to... More

Went here with a group for a business dinner. The prime rib, baked potato are great. What is over the top is the mud pie that you can get for dessert. It is awesome! This is a great local gathering place if you really want to get the Ketchum feel.

We come here every visit to SV, since my college days. It's gotten louder every year, but fun. Drinks are good, dinner too. Good wine.

The Pioneer Saloon is a very popular place in Sun Valley, so it is guaranteed that there will be a long wait to get a table. We were told that this was a great place for dinner and decided to check it out when we came here. I ordered a buffalo burger and not only was it very reasonably priced,... More

It is a hopping place so you feel like you are in the right spot for dinner at Sun Valley, which is worth something. After a day of skiing you will get a reliable Western hearty meal that hits the spot. I don't think your dinner will make it on any amazing lists but you will feel like you are... More

We enjoyed drinks in the crowded bar on a weeknight while waiting for our table - no reservations. The $12 Hemingway margaritas were refreshing, but quite light - couldn't taste the tequila. We had a quiet corner table in the downstairs dining room that was a little less atmospheric than the noisier main room with displays of various giant antlered... More

I went in there tonight (Wednesday) and the waiting room and bar were full at 7:45pm. That pretty much says it all. This is a happening place with excellent food for the money compared to a lot of the other places in row. I had the prime rib, and it was outstanding!

awesome, just arrive early so you don't have to wait. If you have a small appetite, let your partner order the meat portion of the meal, and you order the potato and salad and share. Great deal

For some The Pioneer Saloon is the first restaurant to head to when coming into town and the last place to go before leaving. For others, it's where they met their significant other, perhaps over a bar marg. The Pioneer Saloon, renowned for perfectly aged, tender and flavorful beef, is typical of an earlier Idaho where ore wagons rattled down Main Street and business was done with a handshake and a drink. Natural woods, mounted game, and period firearms help recreate an authentic saloon atmosphere.

Duffy and Sheila Witmer have been the sole owners of the Pioneer Saloon since 1986. Today, with their children, Alyson, Chloe and Dillon, they strive to honor a historical classic while bringing new ideas to Ketchum's restaurant scene.
