This store is wonderful! We grabbed a few Christmas gifts while we were here. The kids got a crossaint and it was big and amazingly fresh. Definitely a good stop for lunch.

It has been a long time since I have been here, they no longer carry other countries clothes, they need to carry more candy from other countries like they used to, what happened to all the trolls? One good point is at least some of the old games are still here :) My kids liked the love game

Thank you for your thoughts. You are right, it is not the same place it was since you were last here. The store was owned then by Astrid Fried, a proud Norwegian who carried the trolls, Norwegian sweaters and other Scandinavian goods. The business changed hands in 2003 and has naturally undergone changes over the last 14 years. We still... More

A reincarnation of my childhood! We went in hopes of finding tee shirts representing the area, but found Patagonia instead. I didn't attend so much to the "old goods" and old style candies in baskets at the entrance. I wanted a backpack style picnic basket but it was too pricey. The jewelry section was very interesting with samples of a... More

We stopped by while in the area. The front is still in the original condition. My husband's great grandfather owned a country store that very much resembled it. The back has a good variety of products and souvenirs.

Fresh sandwiches. Home made soups and baked goods and great Mayfield ice cream. Excellent prices too. Always a great choice.

We felt very uncomfortable today because the person taking orders had a terrible cough. I watched this person cover coughs with the hand, pick up food for delivery, and never saw a hand washing in the 30 minutes we were here.

I feel so bad that you had to write a review like this, but I totally agree! This person was sent home as soon as we realized she should never have come in to work in the first place. It was poor judgement on her part to come in, and a "late call" on our part sending her home. I'm... More

This is a piece of history that both educates and provides great food and shopping. Their Farmer's cheese is wonderful --- samples served daily. The entire front room will take you back generations to the old country store. Great deli next door to the store.

An interesting old store - you walk through the old store area into a new shop which is well lit and nicely laid out. Prices seemed a bit high. I had heard that they sell a delicious Farmers Cheese but left without being offered the sample or the opportunity to buy - perhaps because I did not fit the "older... More

Oh gosh! I am so sorry you did not sample our Farmer Cheese. It is delicious and we have someone set up to sample it all day long--to EVERYONE--of every age!!! I hope that our person was away for just a minute helping to answer a question, or resupplying, etc which of course does happen in the course of the... More

Better store in Helen, Nora Mill. Old Sautee did have clothes if needing clothes. Not much of a nostalgia store

You step back in time when you walk inside the doors. The store section is connected directly behind the older historic part of the store. Found some adorable clothing and loved browsing through some very unique items. Highly recommend stopping here if visiting the area!
