My husband had the pulled pork sandwich and I the chopped chicken with coleslaw and potato salad, both very good and more like home made. In fact my husband said the potato salad was almost as good as mine!! Vicky came around and asked if...we were pleased. We couldn’t have been more! Small but worth your trip, you Will go back! We did!More

My dad and I came up to the lake for the day and stopped in for lunch. We both had the pork sandwiches. It was properly smoked and chopped to order (we could hear them chopping). All of the sauces were amazing: sweet, mustard and...Carolina vinegar. Sides were also great. I had the smokehouse potato salad and my dad went for the fried corn on the cob. Small indoor seating area but plenty of outdoor seating and take out available. Will definitely be back!More

While on Spring Break, we decided to try this restaurant based on its #1 rating on TA. Pulled up & saw that it was a small dive. We typically look for the hole-in-the-wall places that the locals love, & this one did not disappoint! I...had sliced turkey, fried corn on the cob, Brunswick stew, & chocolate peanut butter pie. Loved it all! Others in my party had pulled pork & brisket. They had both potato salads. Everybody was definitely satisfied. Everyone was very friendly. Locals spoke highly of it when they learned it was out first visit. Will definitely go back if/when we’re back in town.More

They have great bbq! Wish the restaurant was a bit larger. I would recommend it to others. Small but good!

We ate here on our second day in Hiawassee and we were definitely not disappointed. Friendly and helpful service. They serve-up a good-sized pork sandwich with delicious sauces. We also had the smoked Ribs and Chicken. We ate many sides including the cole slaw, mac-n-cheese,...both potato salads(one was more of a traditional mustard potato salad and the other was more like a loaded baked potato salad), baked beans, and the special side for the day- the white creamed corn. The Mac-n-cheese wasn’t really worthy of the fabulous BBQ, but the other sides were delightfully delicious. My wife and I also had the Brunswick stew, which was right on the money! We had a great dining experience in this quaint little gem stuck back in the mountains. If you are in the Hiawassee, Georgia area, you need to give this place a try.More

We had lunch on the Hawg’s Deck, and the food was excellent as always. Don’t forget to pick some good coconut cream pie for dessert.

The Happy Hawg Hiawassee NEVER GOT PAST PUTTING OUR NAME IN FOR DINNER 777237104 Having a #1 TA Rating MOL told me everything, we would be eating dinner tonight @ the Happy Hog arriving at our 2nd Destination of Hiawassee on my wife's weeklong "Retirement...Trip" to the mountains... We arrived about 7:50 PM walking through the diners on the patio into the Lobby and giving the Owner our name for a table. My wife looked into the Dining Room and said something to the effect of, "Hon, the Dining Room's less than half full something's wrong." I assured her "Not to worry," but shortly after those words exited my mouth, we started hearing a commotion ( MOL yelling) coming from the kitchen area of MOL, "I'm quitting I've been here since 10? this morning with no let up...I've had it!" The Owner instantly turned to go into the kitchen and on that my wife said, "It's TIME to GO." So we unfortunately, had to leave as the Owner, like many Restaurant Owners, during our trip were having an absolutely Terrible time getting people to come to work, as they would seemingly rather stay home and sit on their duffs drawing an extra $600 a week in unemployment or much more than they would be working. Our hearts went out to the Owner as we owned a Deli years ago and know just how hard the food business can be. We'll try again next year!More

Good Day Bubba, You have the wrong restaurant. We are The Happy Hawg where we are always happy with no yelling what so ever. You must be referring to the tourist trap on the hill aka Hawg Wild where things do get wild from what...More

Brisket tender but nothing great...catfish large serving but flavorless. The Mac N Cheese sounded amazing but was dry and tasteless too. Won't return.

Very pleasant service is always a plus. Unfortunately the food did not live up to the service. We had a pulled pork sandwich which was very generously piled on but it was tasteless without the sauce. The sauce was quite good and it saved the...lunch. The full rack was also tasteless, almost like it was boiled or steam pressured. Just minimal flavor and not like authentic BBQ whatsoever. Both potato salad sides were quite good. We can not recommend.More

Not a lot of seating inside, but the food was great!! Hole in the wall place that we are glad we stumbled upon!
