This was our first experience at the Elkhouse. It had mixed reviews, but it was obvious that the people who enjoyed quiet dining thought the food was outstanding...so we took a chance. We started with the Maine mussels with wine and garlic and delicious toast....It was fabulous! We asked for more of the toast because we wanted to eat every morsel...especially dipping the fabulous gravy. We really enjoyed the scallops and the delicious ahi tuna. We were given very generous amounts. All the sides were wonderful. We were told it would fill up quickly so we arrived there at 4:30. They let us wait in the front room until 5:00. By 5:15 the place was full, so make sure you go early because they don't take reservations. You could tell that they have many regulars because they knew the staff. I have no idea when they opened or why I had never heard of this place, but the food was unforgettable and worth the money. I met the owner who was very nice. I had read the complaints about her rudeness to the people who were having a party. It is a very quiet restaurant and not a place to take young children or loud adults who put on a show. I appreciate her concern for her customer's peace and enjoyment. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and seemed happy and laughing together without disturbing the other customers. We bought a bottle of wine to go with the meal. The wine cost more than the meal, but may be standard at nice restaurants. I just don't drink enough to know. The next time I will make the mussels my main meal! It is a wonderful place to celebrate a special occasion. We were way too full to order desert!More

Went to the Elkhouse with a group of friends for dinner, the food was very good but the owner came up about halfway thru our meal and rudely told us we needed to keep it down, then walked away...the food was very good but left...a bad taste in our mouths as we were spending a fair amount of money between dinner and drinks...it’s a small A Frame building that echoes so not exactly a ‘quiet’ setup...yet after paying, the owner came back to tell us that this is a “quiet, intimate dining experience” (it’s not)...we spent a good amount between our meal and drinks and I have never been spoken to this way by anyone at a restaurant, let alone an owner - So if you want to sit in silence and be rudely judged while you pay good money for food and drinks, this is the spot for you... if you want to go somewhere and have a nice meal, laugh, and have a good time, may want to look elsewhere...we won’t be back or be recommending it to anyoneMore

We dined here with a friend last night and all 3 meals were a below par (2 were the same). My husband had the trout which was quite dry and my friend and I had the “special” rib-eye steak, which had a lot of fat...and wasn’t very tender. Definitely would not have ordered it @ $42. each (which we were not advised of) and to then have it be poor quality was quite a disappointment! The cheddar mashed potatoes were excellent and the service very good.More

Ridiculous that we waited for 15 minutes, no one came to give us a menu but they walked to other tables right by us. Drove 20 minutes to get there. I guess only good to go there when not many cars in parking lot. We...eaten there before but really no social distancing that we saw this time. Sorry can't and will not ever recommend this place again for these reasons. Ruined our entire evening, thanks for nothingMore

We dined with friends and had a great evening. We dined outside in a covered area. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food was well prepared and delicious. We ordered a grouper oscar style which was wonderful. Others enjoyed a crab cake appetizer Portions...were generous and prices were reasonable. The presentation was excellent. Definitely will return- RecommendedMore

Sorry, but not sure about brunch. Cafe 11 in SAB on A1A beachside has a great brunch and South Beach Grill at the Crescent Beach ramp is great for breakfast.
