Fun spot, arrive by boat or car, outside or inside - friendly. Gator tail great, staff always accommodating. Friday PM and later busy. Shirts and hats a must to check out. Whenever in JAX, Whitey's a definite stop.

One of those places you always hear about how good it is, but I never seemed to get around to going until a couple former coworkers invited me for lunch! So, I could not wait to try this place I'd driven by so many times! This is a "no frills" seafood "shanty-looking" restaurant situated on Doctor's Lake hiding under some... More

This place was once one of the few original spots in clay county that had character and was great. This last visit brought home its steady decline in quality.

Nice place to go to listen to bands and sit outside on the deck. The food is okay and pricey. Sometimes it takes awhile to get a drink at the outside bar on a Saturday night.

We hold our meetings there for 40 to 70 people 6 times a year. Also good food and quick service. Enjoyable atmosphere while eating on their outdoor patio.

Went for lunch and thought the food was outstanding. Started off with Gator Bites (very tasty), nice garden salad and loved the low cal tomato dressing, followed by red bean sausage soup and a great piece of Mahi Mahi. On top of great food the service was outstanding.

Service was excellent. Kudos to our waitress!!! Salad bar was very good, however we had to wait on Lettuce and they were out of boiled eggs, bacon bits, and close to out of croutons. They don't have cucumbers (huge disappointment for me, but that's a personal choice.) The hush puppies are great! You get a lot of food for your... More

Went on a weekday with friends who recommended the place. They had a lot of sea 'paraphernalia. I had the lunch buffet - a constant ordering as you can: of fired whole catfish - which was their signature, pop shrimps and pollack and fries. The waiting was a little above the average time that I thought it would have to... More

I was visiting friends in Jacksonville and they took us to Whitey's for dinner. When we drove into the parking lot there were people with glow-in-the-dark vests showing where to park. I thought we would have to go somewhere else but went inside to ask about the wait and was told we could be seated immediately. I asked why they... More
