Great pies. The key lime and banana crumb pie were great. I would go back again and try other desserts that are there. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. This place came recommended to us.

I cannot get enough of their pies. YUM! A great variety to choose from. Super friendly atmosphere. This place never disappoints.
Awesome cake- delicious chocolate cake and other tasty pastries. Good service and very reasonable value for the money
Decadent, tasty and great service to boot. Some of the best cakes and pies in South Florida along with a good selection of them. Your biggest problem may be deciding which one to get.
I came here after reading about their top rated and award winning pies. As a Miami firefighter, Derek took his pies out of the firehouse and into his own storefront. This location was in Wynwood and located right next to the Lock and Load Museum....Desserts and machine guns in one stop. Inside there was a lot of space for eating and and perusing the wonderful looking pies and cakes. It was clean and bright. Staff was friendly and quick to serve. I had only one purpose and got a slice of the key lime pie. For $8 it was a pretty pricey slice. The graham crust was well proportioned at the right thickness, crumbly and crunchy. The key lime was tart and tangy but I wanted a little more pop when biting into it. Texture was a good consistency and melted in my mouth. Will have to come back and try some of his other choices.More
Staple place in Miami. I have been going to the old Wynwood location quite often. The new Wynwood location is terrific and very spacious. The owner and the staff are super friendly, kind, and positive. I love everything they offer. Really, really, good stuff, both...sweet or savory. However, my favorite staple is the Guavaberry Pie with vanilla ice cream — spectacular! Rich in guava and berry and the crust is nice and flaky. Not too sweet, not too sour. The NY Style cheesecake is excellent too! The chicken pot pie is the bomb!!! I mean just great stuff overall, with plenty of creative choices. Reasonable prices. A must-go place for Miami, both tourists, and locals!More
We came to this place at around 4pm on a Wednesday & it was totally empty! The shop is well decorated & the case was full of beautiful desserts. The cashier was very friendly and recommended the apple pie. We ordered apple & of course...a Key lime slice! The KL was excellent, very tart, served cold & a good dollop of whipped cream. The apple pie was also great, thick slices of apple, with crumble topping. Not overly spiced and not too sweet. Extra bonus it wasnt full of tourists or long lines. Would definitely recommend this place.More
The chocolate cake is absolutely delicious. Phenomenal even. However, they used to give you an enormous slice of the double layer chocolate cake. See photo. The slice was so large they had to serve it in a tin pan for takeout and it was nearly...impossible to finish in one sitting (more than enough for two). Now their chocolate cake slice is from a triple layer cake, but the layers are only half layers. The slices are significantly smaller, and I can no longer justify paying $10 (I left a small tip) for a slice of cake.More
We were walking by and there was a long line. It was worth the wait. We had the carrot cake and a piece of pie. The carrot cake was amazing. We will definitely go back when in the area.
This review has nothing to do with the quality of the cake and the taste of it. I love their cakes, cookies and all... Some of. y favorites. Today, I was very disappointed ] when I went to buy a cake 4 days in advance...so I make sure that I would get the cake that I wanted for a friends birthday since is her favorite. Staff told me that you can not pre order any whole cakes in anticipation. Cakes are "First come first serve" and there is no way to buy a whole cake in a any of the available delivery/pick up platforms. Honestly this makes no sense customer service or business wise. How can a loyal customer who will come back and back cannot pay in advance and make sure he doesn't have to worry about not getting his favorite cake on a special day. The staff told me that it was because they do not know how many cakes of which they will get in a specific day, but that there is no way that you can preorder a cake and pick it up at the store. Not sure how is this smart for business. Hopefully they will reconsider and work this issue out. Not sure how difficult is to make inventory with 24 hour anticipation that Wynwood store or any other store has this and that pre ordered extra cakes that they should get deliver the next day... Honestly was very disappointed.More
Fireman Derek's is a must. I know a lot of people say that lightly but this is legitimate. If you like pie or cake or any other sugary goodness then you need to stop by and satisfy a craving that you never knew you had....We visited 2 locations and tried about 10 different cakes and pies. Of course some are better than others but we loved the key lime, coconut cream pie, apple, and the salted caramel pie. I wish we could have tried more but our trip tome ran out. Do yourself a favor and hit the treadmill a little ahead of time and then hit the front door of Derek's and make an order.More
Owned by former firefighter and football player Derek Kaplan, Fireman Derek's Bake Shop has been serving Miami since 2014, the tiny Wynwood storefront offering some three-dozen Pies, Cakes and Confections made from entirely locally-sourced natural Ingredients. Easily missed on the colorful block of North Miami...Avenue, a commissary kitchen now complimenting on-site baking across multiple locations, it was shortly after 10:00am that shelves were found packed, an overwhelming number of choices eventually yielding five clamshells intended to explore a diversity of styles. Never offering on-site dining, but all staff donning PPE and a friendly demeanor, it was at a nearby park that first bites were taken of Derek’s Carrot Cake, it’s aromatics bright to balance Cream Cheese Frosting while Key Lime Pie with a big Dollop of Whipped Cream was tart and smooth atop a crumbly Graham Cracker Crust. Next delving into a Magic Bar, easily 8oz of Butterscotch and Chocolate amidst a Condensed Milk matrix with Pecans plus Coconut, the complexity continued via Banana-Peanut Butter Custard beneath Fudge and Pretzels before culminating in a chewy Guava White Chocolate Cookie that features big chunks of Fruit and plenty of sweetness.More
I pre-ordered and prepaid a pumpkin pie to puck up the day before Thanksgiving. The Sunday night before I got an email to pick up the pie at their warehouse instead which was fine but they used the To line to email 230 other customers....Do not share my details like that. Then I take the pie to my family celebration in Palm Beach and tell them about all the reviews. Yes, it is rich but the wrong consistency. It is too liquidy, like baby food. It was $41. For $4 I can buy a better pumpkin pie in Publix and then add some whipped cream and crumbs and it would look like a Derek’s pie but taste good. Sorry, super disappointed.More
Surprisingly delicious and big cake and pie slices. I strongly recommend this place for anyone willing to eat some sweet stuff. There is a vast variety of flavours
Visited for a quick dessert. Ordered 2 cakes- key lime pie and something chocolaty. Enjoyed the Key Lime pie a lot, the other one was good but too sweet for us. Definately would visit again for new flavours and ofcourse, the Key Lime pie.
